I want to make my E-Maxx a Climber/Crawler, I would like to use the Titans but if not, that's fine too. I'll have to install spools front/rear, bigger tires.I'm sorta stumped on the suspension setup and gearing.. Anyone wanna help me out? More suggestions?
I dont know if this would work, but put in some Hpi savage shocks in it , get some big joe 40 series tires and rims and put a seventy toothn spur and you could keep the titans.
you may have to put limiters with the savage shocks...since they're so stinkin long
I have the Series 40 Wheels, but no tires. How about an Unlimited Engineering Supermaxx WideTrax Stage 3 suspension kit?

wait, scratch the big joe 40 series tires look at these

8 1/2 inches tall, that is huge!HUGE
And yes the wide trax suspension kit is a good kit for rock climbing
what the heck is in the "crawlmaxx" kit? i see some rear wheel steering and aluminum beadlocks.....is that it?.....just want to know.
and those "monster kong tires are STINKING HUGE" .i don't know how well anyone's drivetrain will hold up with those things.
Yeah, I want to know whats in the crawlmaxx kit too!
wait instead of getting the widemaxx suspension, look at this!

those tires are 2 big for anyhting but possibly show, lol u couldn't gear low enough,if your going strictly crawler do this:
1.nitro quake/axis buggy shocks long but not so long your shaft will come apart ( i dont think)
2.put no oil in the shocks, then you can have super easy articulation but use semi stiff springs
3.Try bumping up like 10 teeth on your spur
4.big joe 40s
5.monster maxx 21turns if you wanna spend the money on em.

I don't know if Savage shocks would work very well. If they do fit, you would have a super high center of gravity and just about no suspension travel.

why would you have no travel? theyre way longer...therefore you'd have more travel, but you cant do it, your half shaft's joints would bind and your turnbuckles wouldnt be long enough.
you wouldn't have very much travel because the main body of the savage shocks is about as big as a whole t-maxx shock so that would make it to where you couldn't even bottom out and also the turnbuckles wouldn't allow the shocks to extend all the way so that would probably make it have less travel than stock unless you got some special made a-arms.
I think i lost myself:rolleyes: oh well..

your right about the turnbuckle thing...but you'd be using savage shafts as well so.... n/m i'm lost
What JA 66 meant is that the savage shocks has long bodies and if you were to mount them they'd have to be fully compressed inorder to get them to fit. if they are fully compressed when mounted then they will not be able to travel (since they are bottomed out)
the maxx just wasn't designed to use shocks that long.....
if you do plan to use the 40 series tires then don't get the trophy class suspension kit that roadkill suggested. if you use that set up then you will have to use the stock sliders...and added to that the larger 40's tires then you will twist the sliders.

well, not if you got savage turnbuckles too.
nah...the emaxx susp. just isn't capable to use the savage shocks to its full potential....the shock mounts on the suspension arms aren't far out enough.
If you mount the savage shocks on the maxx (even with the savage turnbuckles) the savage shocks would be fully compressed and the suspension arms would be fully extended...so the arms would not be able to travel down ward (it reached the down travel limit) and would not be able to compress (since the shock bodies are now against the spring retainer...bottomed out)
since the mounting position on the maxx arms are near the middle of the suspension arm it can only use 1/10th scale shocks...or some 1/8th scale shocks.
the savage can use the L-O-N-G shocks since the mounting points for the suspension arms are farther out...closer to the wheel/hub.
to use the savage shocks effectively you'd have to use the entire savage suspension (arms, hubs and everything)

....and I bet they'd fit.
yeah, the only way i can see using the savage shocks is to incorporate the savage suspension arms...i sure it can be done...but will take some very creative thinking.
