In its last run under its current ownership, the XXX-Tyranus project truggy was taken out to an open lot for some top speed runs, and the results were extremely impressive. Read the numbers in the final project page update here:

Woah. Guess that's what a top-quality driveline, top-notch bl, and a light chassis gives you. Very nice. :)

Sad to see it go. It was a very nice (and beautiful, might I add) project.

Yea, It was a cool project, 40 mph seems insane. But don't people boast about 40mph with a novak bl in a rustler?...Hmm.

 I've seen folks claim 35mph "radar verified" with a P2K :rollin:
that's not an unreasonable speed on pavement, going downhill, with a tailwind, and a ski-line from a Toyota Tercel, and rocket boosters.
No, seriously, 35-40 mph isn't too unreasonable.

I bet you could hit 35 with the stock stinger on a rustler. Provided you never want to be able to run the stinger again. put in 18 cells and you will have 35 for a few seconds at least.
:( the xxx-tyranus is sold... But that was impressive 40 mph
Probably notching the out drives!:spam:

Just a little note and my 2 cents... I have a XXX-t rtr that I have completely rebuild with all graphite and run a Novak brushless SS. I have recorded the following speeds with my GPS.
6cell and 18t/86t 32.4 mph
7cell and 18t/86t 34.9 mph
7cell and 24t/86t 39.8 mph
I am not bragging so no bashing, these are just the facts from my xxx-t.....
Thanks fishtale! Always good to get solid speed figures!!

yes yes. brushless is good. btw Jang, did the 5300 or the controller get really hot when you hit the 40mph. (hey guys, i have the same motor, on 6 cells, in a pan car. :D im scared to run it on 10. but i have run my rustler on 10 cells. it hums down the street at like 55mph its pretty crazy.
Neither got hot, no. The only time that controller got hot was out in Death Valley-like conditions one weekend at the track, when the ground was literally 105 degrees F in the shade, ~140 in the sun. The motor was getting hot in racing conditions, undergeared a bit, at the most aggressive timing setting, but it was fine once I backed that down.
Update: One last photo before handing it off to "bigj" at Delta R/C:

:( - Sad to see it go.
On the bright side, someone else will take hand one of the few to be dubbed (and still worthy of it's title), "Ultimate".
