Hi guys, i'm planning to get myself the this friggin huge truck, but i have seen the vids and some comments, it seems the engine is really not very impressive....well, atleast to me that is.

Is it possible to fit maybe like a .50 engine into this baby or maybe the ek4's .70 without any modifications? Or can someone recommend a really more powerful engine for this truck?

I would be ordering this car very very soon so i hope someone can help me out here....

Thanks

Talk to Associated,
I am sure that they were saying that the truck is designed to take a .46 (Thunder Tiger no doubt)

It's not a good idea to put a heli engine in a truck. The EK4's .70 is a ringed engine and I see on its' specs it quotes only 2.2 hp! If you want power get a RB ws7 or a Sirio .27 racer, 3hp/each. If that's not enough and you can't get enough of fixing and replacing broken/worn out parts due to the extra power, put 2 them in. One can build a custom engine mount.

Go for a picco .26 engine. The engines you mentioned have gobs of torgue, but no horsepower rpms. The .26 engines have a good balance of both.

I am able to pull 18/52 gearing and HB tires and rims with my picco .26, and will soon be trying the 18/46 with 40 series on it.

I would just put in a Picco .26 engine .

the standard .27 has the low end that is lost in the racer and pro. I love my .27.

Hey guys, thanks so much for the replies.

So am i right to say that i can buy a RB ws7 or sirio engine and it'll fit right into the BFT?

You would have to purchase one with a pullstart conversion, but by then, you could buy 2 of the picco .26 engines. Unless you have a great deal on the .21's, just get the picco, you won't be dissapointed, and the .21's cannot match the torque of the .26.

Hey Moddmaster, thanks for the advice.

One last thing, if i do decide to put in a thunder tiger engine like maybe the .46s or .50s, will it fit directly without any mods?

You will need special motor mounts made for it. The picco .26 pushes the mounts to the limits, so the larger block won't go. There is plenty of chassis room though once you have an engine mount made.

Keep in mind, those engines will have awesome torque, but you will lose all speed. The most you can gear it now is 18/46, and I can pull that with my .26. I'm estimating 45-50mph with this gearing and 40 series tires and rims. Will know more as soon as the venom speed meters are out.

Oh ok.... so that means i can get considerable amount of torque (wheelspins, wheelies, hill climbs) and also get a considerable amount of high speed with the picco right?

I guess that leaves me with 2 choices, the sirio .30 or the picco .26......hmmm....

i would get the sirio!!

Check into the sirios a little farther before you buy one. I have heard a few claims of short life spans. For the price tag, you definately don't want to be replacing pistons and sleeves pre-maturely. Also, the Sirio is a .27, but I'm sure somebody will be releasing a .30 at some point.

I am a fan of the dynamite .26 and the xtm 24/7 engine, both make peak hp at 28,000 rpm. down low for monster trucks is where it needs to be, one of those engines would make your mgt wheely all day long.

has anyone tried a hyper 8 port and did you get a lot of performance gains

More than likely you will lose torque over the stock motor, and besides that they suck to break in. They are nice motors, but for a .21, and the price, you'd be better off jumping to a .26.

the hyper 8 port runs on the hot side. with the size fuel tank the MGT has it is all ready for engines bigger than .21.

I'd go along with the .26 recommendation. The Picco .26 pretty much drops in. It's a bit of a pig to break in. I'd recommend a roto-start.

You get a high revving engine with more than impressive torque. If you don't change the gearing, it just pops wheelies and burns rubber(depending on surface) all day. I believe those of us who have shelled out for one wouldn't hesitate in recommending it or the Wasp. AE made the truck with this type of upgrade in mind.
