I have this radioshack boat call the "Hydroshock" and I want to put my mini-t electronics in it. The motor is the same size so all i have to do is get a pinion gear. I will try and get pictures of the boat soon. Right now the boat goes pretty slow and so that's why i want to make it go faster. Suggestions are welcome. Also what should I name it?

Sounds like its going to be a cool project. One thing about Mini-T electrics though, think of airflow. How do you plan to keep it cool?

As for a name, I can't help you there. I'm not the best at giving names.

Right now I am working on mounting the servo. I think to keep my esc/ receiver cool I am going to cut a hole in the boat body and mount the fan so it sucks air out from the boat. I can't think of a name so you guys are gonna have to help me out.

This project is back up and running. I got the servo and motor mounted and the battery. Now all i have to do is mount the esc/reciever and somehow get air flowing in there. I'm still looking for a name so if you have any ideas tell me.

you could run mini brushless with a mini waterproof esc, that wouldn't be too expensive. Just my thoughts.

If you look at traxxas boats, they have a little watercooling system. MAybe you can try to make a little one so it cools the motor and esc. just a thought.

I'm thinking there won't be any real benefit from this, now if you were to use a beast 300 motor from one18th on there, then you would see some improvement.

for cooling the esc id make a very long scoop and fill it with air filter foam and have the fan at the end of it so it sucks the air in and if any water hits it the foam will absorb it. Then just dry the foam after every run. I hope that makes sense.

Well the pinion gear that was on the stock motor for the boat, the whole was too big so i'm going to have it a direct drive system. I think I might have a way to do it but i'm not sure. I'm also going to use my losi speed motor instead of the stock mini-t motor. The servo works though, but it can't turn very far. Is there any was to fix that? Like when it's not hooked up to any elecs and I turn it it can go from like 0 degrees to like 90 degree angle both ways but when I have it in the boat and am using the controller to turn it it only goes like half that.

I have made some progress and have made a direct drive system and installed my losi speed motor. It sounds like it's faster but i can't really tell. I modded the stock motor mount so it works with my setup now, all i have to do is make some extensions so it willl reach the stock screw holes at the bottom (thats kinda confusing but hopefully you can figure it out). Then i have to mount my servo so it steers good in BOTH directions, the way i had it setup before it didnt. Here are some pics of my progress:

My direct drive system, it's friction fit hehe, but it works, all it is is a plastic toilet seat bolt with the head cut off and holes drilled in it on both ends, we drilled in it with a drill press so there's like no wobble at all

You could also use fuel tubing with it zip tied on each end.
