I'm with ya. Here's a copy of a post I made on another board:
Some of y'all have heard me itch & moan about this before. I don't like what is happening to the racing end of the R/C monster world. We're turning our monsters into ultralow 4WD stadium trucks! Heck, I'm a prime guilty party.
Well, I finally decided to do something about it! For the track I race at, I created a 4'x6' car crushing obstacle bed as a test and had folks try it out last weekend. Everybody loved it! I'll be making a second, larger, more challenging one when I get some time.
For now, though, here's a video showing how it worked out:

The bed is a 1/2" particle board covered with durable flat black spray with caution tape around the margins, and old (but not ruined), fully masked & painted 1/10th scale bodies filled with expanding foam and pressed onto angle brackets that are nailed to the base. I made a rule that each truck had to stop in a marked zone before the box so that they couldn't get much run-up. I don't want these folks hitting this thing at 15-20mph and flattening the cars.
Like I said, the next box will be larger and more challenging (requiring more articulation). The next thing I want to do is put some pipes across a different section of the track, or cones for a slalom.

Unfortunately the Valkyrie is in pieces right now, waiting to be rebuilt with new super heavy-duty bulkheads, its titanium cvd's, and 24 cells of power.
