does it look like it will be able to handle a 8000kv mamba with a 3 lipo pack? at first i thought yes of course but the more i look at it the more i think a mamba will shred this truck. plus those solid turnbuckles are junk( had em on a hpi car ) why not simple ones like the stock mini t's? other then that with the recent price drop i just might see one in my future. but I'm keeping my T!! hey I still have a original rc10 gold tub. i only sell off the junk by the way anyone want a hpi rs42 nitro? cheap!! lol!!!

Do you think your 8000kv can handle a RC18T and a 3cell lipo? Might be kind of tough on the motor. I think you would have some upgrading to do to get the mini-truck ready for serious power.

yeah im thinking the same 155 for truck 160 for mamba add in another 120 for batts and charger still not up to what ive spent on my mini T but i bet it would blow the pants off it.

I think the 8000kv motor is the wrong choice for the truck. You will also have a hard time finding lipoly cells to fit the narrow chassis. Maybe some 600mah ones will fit, but they want run the 8000kv motor. A 4 cell pack with the 4200 would probably be a better choice. I'm going to try a Feigao 130-12L in mine first to see if it benefits from the extra torque of a longer can.

I would wait for some hopups to come out first, like a slipper clutch with delrin spur, and some aluminum hub carriers and/or c-blocks. I'm not sure whether the stock axles can take much power, but that remains to be seen. That's just what I would think from looking at it from the pictures. It doesn't look much more well-built than the Mini-T, and with all four wheels being driven, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Have to wait and see, though.

Are you serious?
The stock Mini-T turnbuckles are COMPLETE junk. I bent mine multiple times at an offroad track. The only redeeming quality is that they were easy to bend back :rollin:
I mean, I'm not fond of plastic solid turnbuckles either, but I'd rather AE went with adjustable steel ones over what the Mini-T has. The only real difference between the Mini-T ones and the current RC18T ones is that the Mini-T's are adjustable (both will break easy).

no not really. but adjustable is a 100 times better then non adjustable. i replaced mine with titanium a week from buying the mini t .
oh and i would never really put a 8000kv in a 18t or a mini t. seen it first hand, like watching a guy flush $300 down a toilet (was still really cool since it wasnt my money or truck) but i still want to know if it can handle it cause my plan is the 6800kv w/ 2 and 3 cell lipo and if it can handle the competition x it will surely handle the 6800kv.
Hmm, my 8000kv wasn't like flushing $300 down a toilet. I run 8-cell GP1100 packs, extreme timings, and 14/58 gearing. Its tough to get traction on loose dirt tracks (hard packed is decent), but concrete, carpet, short grass.....all give mega traction. And once they hook up (even a decent amount) you'll be off and running. I had a lot of fun with mine at a dirt offroad race track. Was jumping as good as the nitro truck guys and had good air control too. Problem was getting run over and cartwheeling from bad landings (both which bent my turnbuckles alot....like 90 degree bends).
The real part to worry about on the RC18T is the drive shafts. The MiniQuake drive shafts will likely twist with a brushless (similar to .21 engines on the old T-maxx). The center drive shaft should be fine as well as the gears (spur may be an issue, but if anything it sits as a lower priority than the drive shafts). We'll have to see what the RC18T has for driveshafts first. Fortunately, DuraTrax already has replacement hop-up CVD driveshafts (due in November I think.
BTW, 8000kv with 6 to 8 cells is just as bad as the 6800kv with 2 to 3 lipos. So if you think the 8000kv in a Mini-T is a waste of money, you might want to rethink your plan. Maybe shrink it down to say a 5400kv with 2 lipos or 6-cells at most.

hey now this is getting really off subject and i know its my fault but all i really wanted to know was anyones opinion on adding a 8000kv mamba to the 18t before it was released and if it could handle it stock. and as a waste of money what i meant was watching a guy run full speed into a wall fixing everything then running full speed (well almost full speed it wasn't getting the greatest grip at night on cold pavement) into a concrete piling did seem like a large waste of money. (sort of like me being a dumb a** and running my s-maxx into a curb today and smashing the whole front end) it was really cool to watch though even my daughter was clapping (the mini-t not the s-maxx).
So what i really wanted is a 6800kv in a rc18t without mods and what i found out was (i'm an idiot but thats okay my wife tells me that everyday ... lol ) a 8000kv will probably tear the crap out of it and lipo cells won't fit on the chassis anyway so my dream of a kick a** 4wd AE mini truck blowing my T away probably won't happen (wrecking my s-maxx has a bit to do with it too cash flow and all that) BUT!!! none of this really matters because the truck has not been released yet so no one but a few AE techs really knows the truth. its all just spectulation. which is what i was interested in. so thanks for the input everyone.

No problem. Yeah sorry for getting off topic as well. Just wanted to make sure you didn't jump into a 6800 because you thought the 8000 was too much. I'd say a 5400 would be a good idea if you want speed, but not crazy "run into concrete walls" speed. Most people that want a fast Mini-T and still raceable (controlable), end up getting the 5400.
But yeah, the lipos will be a problem getting them to fit the RC18T. Best bet at this point is nimh packs. But who knows, maybe by then someone will find a solution.
Either way like I said before, the bigger problem will be how good the drive shafts are.

On mine (not to say I have one or anything) If I were to run the 8000, I'd use GP1100's instead of lipos for the fit factor. When aftermarket chassis become available to gain a bit of width, I'll probably look into some lipos at that point. I don't think I'd be dissapointed with the speed and power.
Shawn
(not to say that you have one) but on yours, does it come with ball differentials? and also do you like it more than a mini-t?

If I had one, yes, it would have come with ball diffs stock, and after the usual durability upgrades similar to the T, yes, I would like it more than the T.
Shawn
¤¤¤¤ thanks shawn. i think i will be ordering one soon. or will i? ¤¤¤¤
