I figured FMS needed it's own thread, so here it is. It's completely free, and for download at this site:
http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html
It's an excellent sim for what it costs, and the new Alpha v8.3 can generate wind! There are literally over a hundred downloads of add-on model files you can download. The largest site for that is probably www.rc-sim.de.
I think the other threads in the forum have noted how important a sim is in flying a plane, and now, you have no excuse! I have the the newest version, with several add-on planes, and I'm running a 56K modem. I haven't built or flown a plane in reality yet...but I know I'd be up a certain creek if I hadn't already logged several hours in FMS.:) I feel much more comfortable about buying, building, and flying a plane now.
Thanks for the Info. and link, I’ve put a sticky on it so everyone can reference. :)

NEW R/C USB-Interface for flight simulators. It works with all transmitters (JR/Futaba/etc), just plug-and-play, no driver required, supports window joystick and most R/C simulators such as Aerofly Pro Deluxe, FMS, Realflight G3, etc.
Reasonably priced, USD30 including the transmitter cords. Immediate delivery. Interested parties, please pm or email me.
Thanks.

I like the open source nature of FMS, I'm going to create a few planes for it soon, also, if you check their forums, there are a ton of new planes to add onto it as well.

I sure hope you post the planes that you make, so we can download them. I haven't used FMS much lately, but it definitely is a great program, especially since it's free and so open sourced as you say. If you are looking for a plane model that you're thinking of buying and you want to test it out a little, most likely there is a FMS model out there. Another way to make it even more realistic is to buy a ~$20 game controller for computers, one that looks kind of like the PS2 controller (has dual joysticks).

Good idea with the joystick, makes a quick way of interfacing without the USB interface stuff, I'm not one that's wanting to waste my own TX battery playing on a sim, so perhaps I should dig through the attic for one, it's been a while since I plugged it into the pc since I prefer the keyboard if I'm playing games on it. Of course I'll post the models I create here to download for you guys, I'm trying to keep all of my content fresh here, giving this place at least when it comes to the plane end, something you won't find elsewhere on the web for the most part.
