After reading for weeks all over about all these new minis being released I too have decided to jump on the band wagon. I decided I would like to go with the Rc18T for the simple fact that I already have Associated products.

After looking and surfing the internet scouring for every photo and written article I could find. I have come to learn that there would be no slipper and I'm concerned that I would be unable that to run a Mamba 8000kv, also noticed and thought about the front arms look to be a week point like the T4 which brings me to wonder if I should look else where! I plan on running it stock until I can afford the fowling, lithium cells and charger, Mamba and what ever else it would need.

So I guess what I’m trying to get at is there any one else worried about durability and support + space to mount and run one of these types of set ups? Thanks for any replies :)

I am not concerned about the lack of a slipper on a 4WD, because of the weight of the truck and ball differentials. You usually run a 4WD with the slipper very tight or even closed anyway. I am sure Associated knows what they're doing when it comes to design, support and durability. Read the info on their website and they already stated that there will be plenty of mounting options for aftermarket motors.

I am not sure about the Mamba, but I'd go modified or even stock, if you're looking to race, unless you find a nice competitive group of brushless racers. Sooner or later we'll find ROAR/IFMAR sanctioning brushless or creating a seperate class for it anyway. Until then, it's pretty much up to track rules.

Anyway, the verdict will be out in about two weeks when the RC18T comes out. At least that's the date my LHS gave me.

The questionable parts for driveline (in the case of brushless and whatnot) is more in the area of the driveshafts/axles. The rest should be fine.

As for the mamba, that should fit just fine. People have put them in every other micro/mini out there, so I don't expect the RC18T to be a problem. You will need an adapter plate, but if you don't own a mamba yet, you can order it through Bishop Power Products and get the adapter plate from them as well.

Don't worry about the arms. They are the same as the rear arms (just reversed), and those rear arms look pretty good.

Personally, I dont think the suspension arms will be a problem either. If this truck follows the other trends, there are already aluminum parts being made for it now probably. Its amazing how fast aftermarket parts can hit the market when a greatly anticipated truck is to be released.

From AE's website: "Of course, the 18T will be supported by a full line of Associated’s “Factory Team” performance parts and accessories, including machined aluminum suspension arms, shock towers, and shock bodies. In addition, Reedy will soon be offering more powerful motors and batteries to fit the 18T and other Mini-sized vehicles."
