2400mah 8-cell pack the size of a 4-cell AA set?
2400mah 8-cell pack the size of a 4-cell AA set?
It is 7 cells and it is a little larger than 4 AA batteries.

I'm curious what cells it uses.
Wow looking good, I am guess you could make your own conversion kit for cheaper? It just looks like a battery pack? What does the kit come with?

Anyone running the 2400 pack yet? It's grabbed my attention but I want some feedback.

Check the Duratrax website and read their ESC spec sheet, it says DO NOT run more than more than 6 cells for that particular ESC. I heard from the maker of these packs and he said he has had no problems yet.

I am planning on getting a Mamba so I might not even run the truck on the stock motor and esc :)
Actually, I might have to drive it on the stock motor and esc if I dont get a lower tooth pinion for the mamba by Christmas (dont want to deal with cogging since I'll still be in my PJ's christmas morning and in the house :D).
And G-Pilot,
Did the guy you know from Team Helotes mention anything about the run times? Because if this thing works well then I might buy one. But for now I am going to get atleast 2, 6-cell gp1100's..

What you need to figure out is whether the 2400mah pack can put out the amp rate that the mamba will want. If it can't, no amount of gearing will fix the cogging.

That's what I couldn't remember. I knew someone questioned the pack about something but couldn't remember. With the Mamba it's like 20 amps or bust right?

lipos are the best bet,i have been getting great run times since i first started using them.even the 1200 lipos last longer than my high discharge 1100gp's.but if your using the mambe set up you will still have to purchase a high discharge lipoly packs.not just any lipoly pack will work either at least that will eliminate cogging.i talked to someone from castle creations and they say 10c or higher amp rating,no less and it will pretty much cure the cogging.(thats how lipos are rated in power as other batteries are in amp, like 30 amp discharge on a good set of gp packs).some of the lipoly thunder power packs are good with a disharge rating between 10c-12c continuos.

Well, it will cure the cogging in a Mini-T. MQ is another issue.

it does work in the mini quake also.i started out with a great planes 1200mah 11.1v lipoly and had some cogging issues.not much but it was there.now i got a pack of good lipoly pack to use from a friend and now the cogging is history.thats the main reason for cogging, lack of punch.castle creations can explain it to you like they did to me.i listened to there suggestion since they are the creators of the mamba in the first place.i did what they suggested wich was a higher dicharge battery and boom!!!problem solved.now i am waiting for my pack to come in the mail any day now, cause my buddy wants his thunder pack back that i borrowed.lol

well, if it takes lipos to solve cogging in the MQ, then I highly doubt these 2400 packs will work. GP1100s are having cogging issues, and I'm quite sure they have a higher discharge ability than the 2400 pack.
And yes, I've known that the mamba wants high discharge packs. That was how you solved the cogging in the mini-t. though I have doubts that lipos will solve the issue in the MQ....its more than a battery issue.

cooljoe, your scaring me and the others......now i was going to knock on everyones door and they're not going to come out and play with there mq's...lol.seriously though, the thunder pack my buddy let me borrow is perfect.its smooth.just be sure to up the output on your esc to full,if you ever have the issues still with the higher discharge packs.i was also told by a guy at castle creations that even the higher dis. gp's would not cut the cogging in the mamba.it's spendy but well worth it.just give it a try and see for yourself.get a 10c or higher continuos discharge lipo and you will be fine.a lot of the lipos are already high dish. but still not enough for this mamba.so you will just have to look and make sure when purchasing your new pack that it is at least 10c discharge.i'll tell you what theyre hard to find cause i looked and looked and only saw 5c,8c all day.hobby-lobby.com has them.

There's plenty of 10C discharge packs out there. That's pretty much the norm now with 12C and higher in the larger packs. I stock some 12C packs with 16C burst that should do the job. It's more than discharge rate. 10C on an 830mah pack isn't as good as 6C on a 1900 pack.
