I own a Mini-T and would like to get a RC18T. What kind of hop-ups will they have, and when will they have them? Those plastic turnbuckles look cheesy, the motor looks like a Mabuchi, and it has no slipper clutch because they say it's too light to need one (Which I don't get, because I would have burnt out a ton of motors in my Mini-T if it didn't have one!). Will they have hop-ups like titanium turnbuckles, springs, slipper clutch, and gears? They already have a motor and a nice battery pack. but will they have those things, and when?

From the list of hop-ups all ready available Here (http://www.hobbypeople.net/hopup/38330001.asp) It looks like there going to have the normal Associated team hop-ups, I’m sure there will be more to come when the truck gets on the market.

i want to know about that cryptic comment on the wheels...Mini T REAR will fit the FRONT ? I still dont understand the pros and cons of that...Sorry newbie alert :)

...first things first are those turnbuckles for sure...

The rc18t is 4wd. So the rear wheels of the mini-t will fit the front drive pins on the rc18t.

...ok..are there any benefits to having rear rims on the front? humour me...i have no idea what i am talking about :)

Four Wheel DRIVE is the reason, in order to drive the front wheels they need to mate up with the (spinning) front drive axel, this is done by drilling a perpindicular hole through the axel and inserting a small round pin, the wheel is keyed to the pin so that both rotate together as a unit when the wheel is attached.

The mini-t front wheels have bearings or bushings in the wheel itself and the wheels and bearings/bushings spin around axels that are stationary (fixed in place).

I like to upgrade things that break with stronger parts, things that ease or eliminate maintenance, and things that improve performance.

I will upgrade to adjustable turnbuckles and steering linkages, Mamba motor and speed controller right out of the box (both "borrowed" from my mini-t), and anticipate needing to replace the stock dogbones pretty quickly as I heard that they were plastic.

The stock radio transmitter looks pretty nice, but it has to go, simply because I have nicer one with empty places in the 10 model memory (M8).

The philips head screws that are removed when maintenance is performed, or broken parts are being replaced will be exchanged for hex head screws.

Shock springs & oil, and tire selection will depend on what works for local conditions.

Other than that I will wait and see what breaks or wears out, and hope someone will produce a slipper clutch.

This truck looks sweet, I can't wait to slap a full set of paddle tires on it, a baja bug body and go roosting around in the sand!

...SIGNATS can i ask if the HEX head screws you want to use are countersunk or the ones that will protude from the hole...Follow that?

...agree with you on the turnbuckles etc...

...mamba and esc out of the box? hmm...I am still new to the mamba...can i ask what size? I have heard the TOP one is TOO big...

...damn i hate being the newbie :) 34 years old and im back at square one again :)

...Is it worth changing to deans plugs all around?

The mambas are all the same size physically, they all look exactly the same. I run the 4200 "sport" version but any of them should fit without any drama.

Power delivery is a another thing to think about, and I run/race (my mini-t) on anything from technical dirt tracks with lots of jumps and rythm sections to skate parks, to the asphalt cul-de-sac in front of my house, to small tight carpet tracks inside my house to sand dunes at the beach, and wood chips at the local elementry school with paddle tires.

By changing to batteries with different cell counts (voltages), fiddlin' with gear ratios, and Mamba timing modes the 4200 mamba power delivery can be adjusted to work well in any and all of these environments.

These 1/18 vehicles are extremely easy to overpower, and for MY purposes the only Mambas I would cosider using would be the 4200 and 5400, but let the intended use of the vehicle dictate how much motor to install.

I don't mind using countersunk phillips head screws when they are on the bottom of the chassis as the + is easier to clean the dirt out of (than a hex) when they need to be removed, the hex head screws will be used on the top side of the chassis and most likely not counter sunk at all.

Deans ultra plugs all the way (good point!)....nothing better, manditory IMHO (since all my chargers have them already).

Could I stick a Losi Baja Bug body to an RC18T?

I replaced my turnbuckles with the Losi Ti turnbuckles with 3Racing plastic ball caps. The stock Losi plastic caps will not work for they are a little smaller. The brass balls can be replaced with the Losi but will limit the cap travel for they are shorter then the Associated.

Parts you will need are QTY:4 26mm (2 packs #LOSB1231), QTY:2 33mm (1 pack #LOSB1232), and a set of 3Racing #MT02 3.9mm Ball End Cap Set for Mini-T. Problem solved for the solid plastic rods. :bling:
