This was the Truck that got my, (as the wife likes to call it) "obsession with R/C monster trucks" started. I'd seen Big Foot (the real one) on TV, but knowing that I could never ever own a real Monster Truck a R/C version was just as good. If not better, lower running costs.
I saw the USA-1 in one of the local hobby shops, and thought "I gotta have one" The next day,( Friday) I went in and bought it, $400.00 NZD. (I was single and living at home):D
By Saturday morning (I did an all nighter) it was finished, all I needed now was Radio Gear. Two hours, and $150.00 NZD later I was Monster Trucking.
Although it wasn't exactly a scaled down version of the real USA-1, (with the twin electric motors, as apposed to one big thumping V-8)) it was still the biggest of all the R/C's I had sitting in my room. Six, I think there was.
I'm currently looking on e-bay etc to try and find another one, as well as any other mainly Kyosho Monster Trucks
After using it almost every-day after work, and for as long as I could on the weekends, for about a year, some unwanted attention came my way. So I had to sell the beast. (I've still got photos of it though)
Not long after that a workmate bought the Nitro version back from the USA, I was very jealous and wanted one. I might get a Nitro version (if I can find one) now that I know I can handle the power of a nitro. That was the only thing stopping me at the time. Fear:o
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the Mad Force, (well there is now. It's not going, thanks to the 50year old oak tree) but there's something about the USA-1 that I like. Must be the Chevy body.
Anyway, I'll carry on looking for old Kyosho MT's. Sorry if I've bored you all, but I got onto the new look:cool: site and saw the thread in the Forums and just had to tell you all a tale.
Cheers'
