Okay, so after the success of the first bash down in Huntington Beach, we got to talking and thought it'd be cool to have another one........but close to us this time! Right now, the locations would most likely be Triple-D Raceway (the track we built) in Acton, and possibly Vasquez Rocks as well......depending on how many crawlers show up.
The track in Acton has power and water as well as "facilites" on location, and food places within 5 minutes of driving. The track itself was built by my brother, janoob38, and me with newbies in mind, so there's no one real complicated part. Even the gaps are placed in the mid range, withOUT drastic consequences if you don't make it. :) Track conditions require tires like Step Pins or (even better) Proline Lugnut tires.........in a crunch, maybe Bow Ties would work, but they probably wouldn't work as good as Step Pin type treads.
Vasquez Rocks is a famous movie spot with darn near nothing though, the best you get is the plastic poo huts at the edge of the parking lot........but that's not really what the visit there would be about. Even if there is a lack of crawlers, it's still fun to climb around on the 150' formations, but crawling would definately be the best use of it. The rocks are SUPER tacky for traction, so darn near any tire would work.......but bigger is usually better. Moabs and LSTs and Giant Tracs and maybe even Jumbo Swamp Dawgs would work great, the rock is literally like sandpaper, so it doesn't really matter.
There's also a possibility of going to Hot Rod Hobbies in the place of Vasquez, but I'd rather go to a track that I know will be accepting of newbies trying to have fun......like Triple-D. :D
Anyway, we don't have a date yet, so fell free to suggest one, and we'll shoot it down........I mean, see if it'll work. ;)
