is there anyway to run 1/4th scale servos while using a 1/10th scale setup?

I highly doubt it. You may have to make lots of mods and that will do more harm than good. Why not just get a 1:10 servo and save yourself the hassel... unless your doing some sort of project than go for it.

yes I am trying to make a 1/4th scale electric car. I need to use a regular 1/10th scale servo to run the speed control for the motor(not msc type) and one servo for the steering. I was just thinking that it would be simpler to be able to use a 1/4th scale servo with a 1/th scale receiver and stuff... if there is a different way to do it...well i am open to suggestions. Another idea was to use another 1/10th scale servo but instead of using the servo to turn the wheels, use it to operate valves in a pneumatic system that turns the wheels, but that might get extremely complicated especially for someone of my skill level

Are you custom building all of it? A guy on RC Crawler made a fully hydraulic steering system for his TXT-1 crawler with the equivilent of near 1,000 oz of torque, just a thought even if this one isn't headed for the rocks. 1/4 servos can be cheap too, here (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLN93&P=0 ) is a good Hobbico one that makes 343 oz of torque on 6v, but you MUST run a receiver pack to it because of the high drain motor it has. Still, I'd do it.

Wow that is practically exactly what i needed. i was worried about the servo needing more current that the receiver could handle but that servo uses a seperate power source than the receiver it looks like. most of the car will be custom.

Will this be an electric car, or a fuel burning one of some sort? MetalMan can make you a regulator to use instead of a rx pack that would solder right up to the battery leads if it was an electric. Also, for more run time and less charging, you could build a 5 cell NiMh pack to run the servo off of, maybe get a cheapo 3000 pack and tear it up.

The car is going to run on electricity. The motor is going to run on 2 12 volt lead-acid batteries that are going to be completely seperate from the receiver and servo.

You gonna post some pics when you get done? It sounds like an awesome project. Have fun buddy.

Lead Acid. Fun. Heavy though. What type of motors are you gonna use? I assume its plural.

the motor is from a scooter my freind gave me. It could carry up to 180 pounds and could go around 12 miles per hour. im almost 100% sure that this car isnt going to weigh 180 pounds so maybe rethinking gear ratios and such could output speeds above 12 mph...
a fuel burning car might be on the horizon if i can figure out an effective way to mount a weed whacker engine

Guys have put weed wacker engines in Ofna Titan's and Maxxes before, you could design your car (truck?) around it from the ground up.
