first off, I know I posted this in another thread but I thought it would be better off as an original thread, sorry for the double post
:p First, the good:
The truck is very tough, ive had plenty of "accidents" just getting the hang of the truck and havent had one chassis part break. Stock the truck is decently fast, plenty fast for first time RC'ers, and fast enough to keep experienced guys happy while learning how the truck handles and jumps. Although it feels kinda cheesy, the synthasized radio is really nice, at $10 a pop for crystals in other recievers, you get allot of bang for your buck with the radio supplied. (6 channels I believe)
:d Second, the marginal stuff:
I have noticied as others have pointed out that the suspension and wheel connections are a bit wobbly, this is typical with most off road RTR cars, but still, I cant seem to get the steering trim straight.... Also, the car isnt the easiest to work on. with the durrability of the double deck chassis and how the diffs are engineered in the truck, you get some pretty tight spots to work in, and in my opinion not for novice RC mechanics. Other then that the gear protector lexan is a bit on the cheap side, and I hear some people have had some issues with the electronics.
:o Third, the BAD
I know its been said by many before me, but the front and rear diff gears are VERY breakable. I have tried every trick in the book (Boiling, shimming, and lubing) that I know of and I still plan on striping a diff at a day on the track, or bashing. In my opinion losi REALLY droped the ball on the drivetrain in this truck. Aside from the diffs, I would have to say that the slipper clutch (which could really help save those gears) is the cheapest I have seen, and is almost worthless. I really hope that losi sees the error they made and make some improvments in future models.
Final Thoughts
If I were to rate the losi Mini LST on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a 7.5. This is a great truck to get into the hobby at a great price. But to tell you the truth I would have paid $50 more for a better drivetrain layout, as well as more attention to craftsmenship. It just feels like losi pushed this one out the door...
