I'm planning on building an E-Revo, and I was wondering what I need to take on this build... I already have an E-Maxx that I will be taking parts off of... I know theres a Gorilla Maxx E-Revo conversion, but its $300 and thats way out of my budget when I know its possible to use the stock chassis..

Speaking of the stock chassis, when installing the E-Maxx tranny, will I have to drill new holes to mount it in the stock tranny location? I have an extra E-Maxx chassis, would it be possible to cut out the battery trays with a hacksaw and somehow mount it onto the Revo's chassis, and has this been done before? Or is there something out there that I can but to use as a battery tray?

Other than the installiation of the tranny and the battery trays, what else to I need? And whats the best route to take in the steps of buying things? Like should I buy a brand new Revo and just sell all the nitro stuff, or should I just hunt eBay for a roller?

Great project. Check the forums at RC Monster. There are a ton of ideas for converting nitros to E-Revo's. Lots of different methods of making battery trays...
To fit the trans, you have to grind away a small amount of the chassis. I can't remember if you need to drill holes, but I do know that the E-maxx trans almost drops right in. You will want to disable the first gears of the trans or get a Gorillamax G1 single speed conversion kit. It eliminates a lot of weight...Speaking of, you want to be very weight conscious with your E-Revo. If you can keep it under 10 pounds (fully loaded with body and batteries) you're good.

I went custom with my Revo conversion. I built the tranny in mine, and it has a center diff and a slipper clutch. Batteries are 5s2p (16.5v 4600mah) of A123 M1 cells. Motor is Feigao 540C 7XL, and ESC is a Mamba Max.

These pics aren't completely up-to-date, but you'll get the idea:

It's a 40mm 5V fan on the ESC. The Mamba Max ESC overheats without the fan.

Nice, that's 6s2p and the slipperential, right? Did you ever get the Neu? I'm guessing yeah, because you didn't have a motor for that voltage before.

BTW, why don't you post the "special" way you assembled those cells? I had two SPT packs work and the other two not, might tear down the non working ones.

It's 5s2p, one Dewalt 36v pack :). Never got the Neu, that's a Feigao 540C 7XL. It runs very well, and hasn't exceeded 150 deg. even with the body on and no airflow.
The "slipperential" is there, yes. I wouldn't call it the "slipperential," though, because it's my design but not my name :).

I never really took pics while making my two 5s2p sets, unfortunately. The next time I can get the $100 cash together to get another Dewalt 36v pack I can make a tutorial on how to make my packs. (Note: the way I make my packs requires that it be a 2p setup)
