hi, i have an HPI nitro rs4 rtr 3. I am going to upgrade it. I was seeing what kind of engine you guys suggest. Right now, im looking at the:
HPI Nitro Star .12R SS
Fantom F15S-PS
Which one would provide more power and speed to my car. Or do you have a better suggestion .12 or .15 engine? The HPI kit does not support engines with SG style cranks. I'm looking for the best engine with or without a pullstart.
I think .12 size engines will put out more power,as these are more race orientated designs, the RB Concepts C12 is a whopper of an engine, with I'm told a 1.4bhp output!!!So that would make your HPI RS4 really move, also worth looking at is the Sirio .12 engine,it is a fairly new engine, but is impressing some race drivers already.
There are so many engines to choose from,so do your homework on them before you choose.
thanks man. oh yea, will i need to switch to a rear exhaust and a non-pullstart for the best power improvements? will all that be possible on the rs4 3? thanks
I have to say that most of the real power engines are rear exhaust, the RB C12 has a rear exhaust, whether you need to to have one is up to you.
I'm not too knowledgable on the RS4,and if rear port engines are compatible,it should house a non pullstart engine, but isn't anything possible in R/C?:D
thanks again. i was checking out the official RB website and checked out all the engines. They have the hardcore RB Concept X12T. since these are all .12 engines, im assuming all of them will fit perfectly on the rs4 3 right? you are the man

almost all .12 engines will fit on the rs4 3 but not every one will but most do. I personally have the HPI nitro star pro 12r sc bump start engine. it puts out a lot of power but the rb c12 against this engine would almost be unfair that is how much more power you get, but you do pay for that power and your wallet will show it. I have also tried the fantom fr15 engine on mine and it seemed to create fairly decent power but not as much as a top notch .12 will push your car along. stick with the rb c12 or a similar type i believe there are a couple brands of c12 type engines that all fair about the same.
