Best would be the the Baja 5B, hands down. It isnt exactly the cheapest, and needs some hop ups from the start, but it would whoop any of the other buggies. You can find new Bajas for around 950, if you're lucky theres a guy on ebay who gets them for real cheap and sells for 860.

The thing is, all of these buggies will cost a lot of cash down the road. They're really durable, but not indestructable... when you do break a part, it costs a lot more money since its physically bigger than other RCs. Plus tires can wear out pretty quickly, so you have to get new ones. You could get adapters for 23mm, but again that costs a lot of money.

I would get the HPI buggy. The gas cars aren't great for huge jumps (I dont think), but are great for everything else. And when you're doing everything else they are very hard to break.

TTM2 had a Baja 5B a little while ago, but he sold it. He said it was fun, but not $1000 fun.
