Well i figured id share my MMGT pics and info too. When i first got this truck, i was not incredibly pleased with the linkage setup. I couldnt get that throttle to return to idle for the life of me, Not on a regular basis anyway. So i ditched that throttle servo, and installed an 8800T. Now she returns to idle real well. LOL.
Here she sits with HPI wheels, and some holeshots for the indoor clay track we run on. I did need to use a new washer to get those wheels to work. I'll include a pic of that washer as well.

Found those washers at Rider hobby, and they are a perfect snug fit. They go over the axle snug, and sit just inside the HPI wheel perfectly.
I also ditched reverse. I basically yanked the servo, and locked the truck in forward, with a TRS. It was almost as if the spring was made for this purpose. Again, a perfect fit. Sorry for the dark pic. I also cut a lexan piece to drop right in the gap, that once held the reverse servo to the radio box. Nice clean look.

And the damaged axle. Shes all better now, but that axle broke on a simple jump, that was landed well, and not fully tuned in motor. I'd say AE will need to update this part.

I also have many pics of the horrifying job to access the diffs. If anyone is interested. Its not a pretty sight, or a fun job. Seems like a very tough design, just not user friendly.

Im sure the axle breakage was just a fluke, Associated is known for making top notch R/C cars and equipment

I would like to see those pics, if possible. Did you add shims? If so, how many?
Thanks

Heres my copy n' paste, from Banned RC.
Ok, went out for tank two today and lost FWD. Brought it in, and found some things i like, and dont like about it. Thinking it was the diff, i went right in. The diff was fine. Ended up finding the drive cups at the diffs, are not the traditional diff setup. Most diffs have a drive cup and shaft, that goes into the diff, has a pin, then a bevel gear on it. Not this one. This has a shaft sticking out of the diff, with a drive cup that sits on it, with a set screw to hold it in place. Found one of those had backed out.... Atleast nothing is broke, i dont think. I did find that i hate working on this thing. Well, not that i hate it, just that it requires ALOT of work to get to a diff. It wont be fun to work on at the track. I'll give you a few reasons why.
Number one. At this point, there are braces, and hinge pin holders that need to be removed first. Approx. 4 screws there. You'll also be removing some e clips from those pins.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/Scooby_WRX/MMGT/P1010023.jpg
Number two. The hidden screws. Yup, there are screws you cant access without removing the suspension arms. So pull the pins out, and slide em down to gain access here. 2 upper, and 2 lower.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/Scooby_WRX/MMGT/P1010024.jpg
Number three. You cant pull that bulkhead down and out, until that shock tower is off. 4 screws, with locknuts recessed in it. See how the tower, and bulkhead key together.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/Scooby_WRX/MMGT/P1010027.jpg
Number four... Even after all that, you cant drop the bulkhead out, until you disconnect the steering rack. The drive shaft cup hits it. 2 screws.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/Scooby_WRX/MMGT/p1010028.jpg
Number five... Top all that fun stuff off by having to remove that skid you see in this pic. 7 screws to remove the front half of the skid, required to access the diff.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/Scooby_WRX/MMGT/P1010022.jpg
Other than that, here are some things i noticed, and some things i liked.
Heres a pic of the diff gears inside. Small, but should hold up. The revo diff gears are small, and they do fine. Lets hope these hold up as well. The flywheel collett is in the pic for size reference.

And this pic has been posted, but notice the groove. I believe thats there for a future sway bar kit. Which would explain the holes on the upper arm as well. I also like that the caster can be changed on this truck, at the upper arms.

Yikes! That's a lot to go through for diff removal. I just overhauled the Muggy this weekend and the diff removal was a breeze compared to what you had to go through. Even the original MGT's diffs were easier to remove. This is bordering on original Savage diff removal troubles, if not worse.
By the looks of them it appears that the shocks could easily be replaced by some HD 1/8 shocks or even Big Bore for buggys and truggys and get rid of the 8 shock and cut it down to 4.
I gotta see some track action on this thing!

Yes, its quite alot to go thru to access a diff. Hopefully there are no diff issues with this truck. Im planning on buying the FT shocks they have coming. STC the MMGT does real well on the track. I have been playing with setup lately. Gonna see how much of a racer it can be. My biggest concern is the overall weight and size, and being knocked around by bigger trucks. But we'll see.
I still think they look cool and I would love to get one.

What weight shock oil are you running

STC, it'll be at an illegal race weight if they ever put a real FOC out for this truck. I'll weight it again, but its just under 8lbs i believe. And sorry for the late replies. I dont get notices on replies for some reason. I did get to race it this past weekend. It did well with the setup changes. I only had it out for one qualifier though. I've got gold springs on it, with 50 wt oil. My track is hard clay, with alot of traction. I need to get it tuned in as well. I rushed it on the track without any run time that day, or a tune. Because my roto start blew up on my LST2. lol

I just broke one and just after breaking in, not doing much snapped the drive cup shaft in half. I never had that happen before. TA wants me to send it in so they can look at it lol...

So far I am not seeing the chip off the ol' block there. I have the MGT 8 and it is a much different truck. I got these diff's down, think I'm going to switch to 50,000 lube f/b.... Man dont so much as tap anything with those terrible bumpers either... man! Who the hell let that get through QA? I think I am going to airbrush a nice new body, make it look all pretty and sell it off. Just not my cup of tea after running 1/8 scale MGT 8....

I broke 2 axles and an axle cup shaft and 4 bumper round things and I barely go this thing broken in. Either they fix some stuff of 3rd party...
As far as taking out the diff, that seems to be the standard these days. Pop off the bottom plate, pop off the tower, couple more screws and the whole back end slides out exposing diff case to pop out. I hate doing it but I dont know any car I like doing it on LOL...
I am real interested in what people are using for the diff lube....

Well, I sold it and got a T-Maxx. The T-Maxx is waaaaaayyyyy better. I can not believe they made it sound like it was like the 8.0, it is nothing like it.
It seems like AE has been using some type of cheap pot metal to make the driveshafts. That's too bad. I had this problem with my Electric Evader EXT as well, and you can tell the metal used for the driveshafts was a very cheap material.
Also, those bumpers are aweful small. Using rings to support the truck on impact? COME ON!
And I was beginning to think the diff access in the MGT was hard after seeing what a Savage's is like, but man! That MMGT is worthless! lol Ok, not worthless, but certainly not the best design. I guess it's TTR's fualt! Dang it Taiwan! I thought you guys were better than China!

Yea I'm not sure what they were thinking about the MMGT. I was so dissapointed. They should have followed the same scheme as the 8.0 bumpers, they take quite a beating, even T-Maxx takes a beatging but a tap against a tree or something and bye bye MMGT bumper or ring or what ever. So glad I got rid of it fast and clean. Lost about 50 bucks but worth it.
Diff's are all the same these days it seems. I pop some screws off an yank the whole back end off. It gets easier as you do it more often but it sucks. However it seems to be the new standard and it is not THAT bad after you do it a few times :)
I'm tired of RTR's. I think I am ready to build another truck... not sure what tho...
