really nice looking truck! I've been looking for that design body for my 1/8th scale. Does anyone know if the SLASH is going to be nitro or electric?
have they been released yet

That sucks! Can't see it being a really good track performer being electric, I would have my doubts it would be 4wd in electric and that's the only way Traxxas is ever going to get anything competitive off road in electric. I love my VXL rustler but it's a basher and speed runner, not a racer by any means!

Not to my knowledge, but they should be out soon.

30+ and racing? Not where we race! Most of the buggies and Truggies race at speed well over 50mph and even the monstor trucks race at 45mph+ My 8.0 MGT was clocked on the straights today at 48mph and averaged 34mph for the lap. keep in mind that my MGT is also a sled pulling truck. At 21.6 lbs it's a true monstor to try and all out race! I just can't see an electric 2wd even being competitive on an outdoor race course.

@Butters: Not to my knowledge, but they could be released soon though. Least I hope they are.
You sound a lot like billzkustomz from the live chat on RCX, fishin4cars. What is this with the Traxxas bashing? It's like some people's beef with the T-Maxx and how it apparently "sucks". Without Traxxas coming out with that truck, companies like Losi and HPI wouldn't have been forced to come out with trucks like the LST(2) and the Savage. Then Traxxas goes and brings out the Revo, once again, starting a huge ruckus and now trucks like the 8ight-T and Hellfire exist. It seems to me that Traxxas is a trend-setter, whether that involves racing or not. People will like Traxxas and there will ALWAYS be people to like Traxxas trucks and cars whether they're electric or nitro.
The Slash being electric is actually pretty cool. Racing electric, or heck, even bashing electric is inexpensive compared to doing it nitro. People are allowed to like what they like.
Just a little F.Y.I., the Rustler was never meant to be a racer. It can, and a few people do take it racing, but it was never designed like a XXX-T. It's meant to bash and to have fun.
and u dont have to try to tune electric

I'm actually not bashing the traxxas line at all. But from the video it seemed like it was a cool idea. I like the Baja concept, I hoped that it would be a 4wd electric if it is going to be an electric. The 2wd electrics just aren't made for off road racing. I know, I tried! I finally gave up scrapped the idea turned my rustler in to a 3 second 132ft drag racer. At 68 mph in 132ft I can tell you it's a very competitive drag truck now! Not the fastest out there but very competitive. It wasn't even controlable on dirt once I got above 8.4v 7 cell batteries. Forget Lipo on dirt! All I could do was donuts and blow tires off of their rims!
As for an inexpensive basher, well I have to argue that point, It's a great entry level fun truck to drive, very good starter RC for those that don't have experince with RC trucks. It was a fairly easy truck to learn the basics on and how to rebuild and can be jumped torn up fixed and jump it some more all day long. As for inexpensive, It's still the truck I have the most money tied up in,$1000+ easly! Has to be fixed or repaired or adjusted pretty much every run and you HAVE to have spare parts for it on hand at all times. Never owned any of the other Traxxas line but I have four really close friends that all run T-maxx trucks and race them. Again, 4wd and they have the power to at least run with the rest of the cars on the track. I own the Traxxas Rustler VXL, losi 8ight buggy, and the MGT monster 8.0 by associated. None of those require nearly the maintance that the Traxxas Rustler does but then again, None of them run near the 70mph mark either!
As for electric being cheaper to run than nitro, I was told that in the beginning. That's why I started with my Rustler, I have to seriously disagree. What I spent on one 3s lipo and a balancer and charger I could have paid for 10 gallons of nitro fuel and and least that many glow plugs. That doesn't include the NiCa charger and the 7.2 and 8.4 batteries I bought so I could run for a while. Now add in all the parts and esc's and motors and electric is not cheaper. It's bad when Kenny and Bill know me on a first name basis at Traxxas. that's how often I have had to send electric motors and esc's back to them for repair! Safer, that to can be arguementive. So far the worst thing that has happened to me is being hit by both cars, Both the Electrics and the Nitros hurt! Nitro's can burn you, usually it's a finger tip or small burn, Batteries can explode! Haven't had a problem at all with a LIPO YET! but I did have a 7.2 Tenergy battery explode in my step sons hand when he was disconnecting it from the charger. he received second degree burns on his hands and arm. So yes, I now have learned that Electric is not the safest, and it's not the least expensive. As for the subject at hand,I still like the idea of the Baja truck,(SLASH) I just wish Traxxas would have come out with a truck that IS more user friendly at the track. We like compitition. Bashing is for those that come in last.
idk, i know its elec and all but.... im feeling it being the next big racer truck... idk is me though
and yes traxxas is a huge trend setter, not sure if they were the first but im 100% on the fact that they have by far the best elec. start out there and my S-maxx has a lifetime engine warintee i think thats dam good so... GO TRAXXAS!

Butters, What makes them the best? because they came out with an idea first? Fastest, durability, trend setting, warranty, lifetime guarantee? Just curious, I'm getting the feeling that some think I am against Traxxas. I'm not against Traxxas by any means. But I do feel if they want to be one of the leaders of the sport that they should at least build high end competitive track cars too! Anyone here know much about the Traxxas tec 4? One bad mutha as far as a street racer! How about the Jato? It's has become the vehicle of choice for the small block drag racers here in the nitro division. Were talking 3.5 sec. 132' drag runs! For those of you that think Traxxas isn't serious about racing come check out the 100+ racers on a Sat. night in New Orleans! I'm not cutting on Traxxas, I'm cutting on the idea that Traxxas needs to come up with a competitive off road racer. Look at the market, Losi, HPI, Associated are the top of the line racers, traxxas has the means, the engineering and the facility to make a really competitive racer. Mark my word, they will bring one out! It may or may not be the Revo platinum but it won't be the Slasher if it's only a 2wd electric.
