I know this is off topic but im thinking of adding the hpi baja to my fleet. anybody have anything good or bad to say about it, i cant find any forums or anything for it. Is the SS kit worth the extra cost and time to build?????

There are a few guys over there that have`em
This (http://www.hpibajaforum.com/)is the best baja forum hands down. If you already have a radio the SS kit is the way to go. Larger engine and a few beefier parts. HPI's SS line is equivalent to saying Factory Team in Associated speak. So it's really a matter of preference - The RTR with a few hop ups is no slouch and will have you up and running immediately. If you enjoy the kit building part then the SS adds that aspect but you will still need to buy electronics. Figure that into your budget as well.

they are very sturdy and fun, but i wouldnt take one to the track or else all the pro's and the regulars that work on the track will give you the evil eye, cause those things eat track jumps and burms like you wouldnt believe
im pretty sure im going to buy one but i cant make up my mind between the rtr and the ss kit
I agree with riceman's endorsement of HPIBajaForum.com (http://www.hpibajaforum.com) as the best source of Baja 5B information. However, the post volume is so high on that fourm that it's near impossible to keep up with what's happening.
Be sure to have tolerant neighbors or plenty of wide open spaces to run the Baja. One of mine has the Jetpro V3 and the other has the Dominator rear pipe; either one is loud enough to wake the dead. If you think the nitro pipes are loud, just wait until you hear one of these aftermarket 1/5 scale pipes.
In regards to RTR vs SS, I'd vote for the SS so you learn immediately how everything goes together; this knowledge will make repairs much easier. However, should you decide to go with the RTR, the buggy is pretty simple to figure out so you'll still be able to fix things easily.
if it were winter time i think i would enjoy building the kit but right now i have so many projects at home that time is precious and building time could be driving time, i guess i could always upgrade later. I think they sell a big bore kit for around 75
