I've been hearing so many great things about this vehicle, and I'm sure it truly is awesome, but there's got to be some little snag or something. I was just curious if any of you lucky Slash owners have noticed any design flaws or and problems at all?

Thanks :)

Like the Rustler, the bellcranks are a bit sloppy. Some steer better or farther to one side than the other. The simple fix is to upgrade to the aluminum bellcranks Traxxas offers.

The only other complaint I've seen is that the rear bumper has a tendency to want to pop off (near the motor, IIRC).

Everything else I've heard has been all good about the Slash. Just be sure to program the ESC before you write it off as "slow".

 *Cough iluvmud cough*

Really...I'm consider buying one and taking the VXL system out of my 'pede and putting it in there...

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH Like my dad would let me do that! :rollin:

To me the downsides are that the tires are a little on the small side, and the stock suspension setup is not geared for jumping at *all*. All easily fixable though of course!

the bigest down side i have noticed is how far donw you have to gear to keep your brushless systems from over heating, traction is always a strugle for the narrow tires and the handling is just as bad as the stampede

I have had no problems with my mm5700 or mm running the vxl motor. I am running the vxl geared 20/86 and have no heat issues.

Only thing I did not like about the truck was the velcro on the sides, but that didn't matter as they came off the second time I removed the body.

its the same stuff on the rustler, bandit nd the pede, with exception of a few components, so any problems that occur on those would show up on the slash

I broke a rear bearing carrier, not the trucks fault, my buddies.

I think it handles great. much more forgiving than the rustler. some shock spacers out back to stiffen it up for control and it was good to go.

My velcro did not last as well. no biggie.

I am sure the motor will bite the dust eventually here, but they are throw away motors in the first place. Get another and have fun.

I will keep my Mamba'd rusty for the go fast fun.

The only problem i had was after a few hard landings the motor mount bolts came loose and kinda chewed up my spur gear. I put some lock tight on them and they have been good ever since.

yeah the only thing i dont care for is the fact that the suspension is a bit weak in the rear

I love my Slash, but I think that the tires are too narrow, it gets sunk if there is any soft sand/dirt, and less surface area generally means less traction, too. Also, the body is too open, it acts like some sort of glider in the air. I was dong some jumps with a decent breeze recently and the truck would seriously float in the air. :rollin:

Other than those two things though, I think it's great. It's more focused on being scale and proper, and not completely about performance, so I am fine with the downsides. If I wanted a better racer, I'd get a Rustler, if I wanted a better basher, I'd get a Stampede.
