Absolutely fantastic, JANG!

'Nuff said!

OK,OK, after perusing all the shots & reading the text, I am forced to add some more!

The body alterations make the Slash shell look even better than stock. The masking around the side windows gives a much more aggressive look, and the trimming of the front fenders adds even more.

The RPM body mounts look so "sano" (haven't had the opportunity to use that word in a long while!) and the front mounts are pretty dang slick as well. The use of a 4WD buggy chassis combined with Novak brushless power just makes the thing as cool to drive as it is to look at. The stance is perfect.

The wheel choice is truly worthy of an ULTIMATE RC, especially after the paint was applied. I had actually posted in an other forum(Traxxas.com) that those or the new black Venom buggy wheels would be perfect. I discounted the OFNA wheels somewhat because I don't like chrome, and here you come and remove that quibble from the equation. I had also mentioned the Knuckles because they have the coolest tread pattern out there.

I am officially in awe and want at least the body and wheel/tire setup for myself in a big way. However, I will content myself by coming up with a decent paintjob and stadium truck wheel/tire combo for my own Slash.

Ausgezeichnet!!!!!

very nice, not as complex as some of your other projects but done very well nonetheless, why is it so low in the back?

great job. it looks fantastic. It looks like you used a kyosho us sports buggy for the conversion biased of the blue aluminum. its an ofna raveger though oh well still a good job. THe ravenger has that wierd blue tires doesn't it.

Alexei: Hahah, right on.

norco: Reading seems to be your enemy. Make it your friend!

!bungle: Thank you sir! There's something about standard masking lines on bodies that just refuses to agree with me for some reason. Some sort of weird affliction. It's not even something that developed over time, either -- it started way back at the beginning (http://www.ultimaterc.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-226). I looked at those Venom wheels too, but they just weren't "truck" enough to me, ya know? I'll still get a set nonetheless, as I'm sure I'll eventually figure out a project to build around them

Fiero: The body is actually mounted quite level, it just has its front fenders cut out extra for clerance around the steerable wheels and for looks. It helps give it the sagging tail look of the real CORR trucks and allows me to have zero body rub even at full suspension compression.

Casper, lingo: Thanks, glad you like it!

Yes, great work Jang. But I have to say, this is definetly a progect, and a great one at that, but you didn't really hack away at the core and totally reform it to something different, y'know what I'm saying? Its an OFNA buggy with a Slash body , new rims, tires, and a brushless conversion. It's amazing, but it's nothing like the TRX-4 or the Rally-E-maxx.

a few questions

how is the novak holding up in the buggy chassis?
when they put out the kits alot of us brushless truggy guys though it would be to underpowered (not an insult or anything)

what are your esc and motor temps like

i couldnt tell from the video, how acceleration and top speed compare to when it was nitro

i ask because i have an hv maxx laying around as well as a spare lightning pro r that i was thinking about doing the conversion to but i didnt think the novak would last long

nice.. not one of your most extreme projects, but nice none the less..
you think they'll let you run in the slash/slayer class...

Semi Pro: Thanks for the props, though I'm sure you won't have any trouble beating this  I think you'll get a kick out of what I'm doing to my first Slash though ;) As for the HV Maxx setup, I honestly haven't yet done a radar test, but I can give you my subjective observations, corroborated by someone who spent more time with the Ravager in nitro form than I did. Acceleration is noticeably stronger than with the .28, even though I'm only running on weak 6-cell sport shotgun packs. It squats real, real good even though my back end is a little stiff (as seen in the video). Top speed *looks* to be comparable at the least, in spite of how nitros usually seem faster for a given speed because of the noise. That's only subjective, though, so I'll have to verify it. Braking, on the other hand, is unworldly. On asphalt, I can set it up for a full speed pass just past me and hit the brakes and in less than 2 seconds it's planted. It slows so quickly, it tricks my eyes as they want to keep tracking forward! The video really doesn't show the performance because 1) there's no depth of field and 2) it's running on gravel-laden dry silt and the tires were slipping the entire time. I'll see about at least getting some onroad video, but suffice to say, having run the Hacker B50 (or two) in the 'Maxx, the HV-Maxx setup hasn't left me feeling disappointed at all. It's not going to compare to a huge can with a billion cells, but for what juice I'm feeding it, it's kicking butt. Thanks to the fans, motor and ESC temps were barely warm to the touch, though my batteries got toasty!

Now to folks who want to point out that this is not my most wildly radical project ever, I knew you would say it even though it's insanely obvious, and I was hoping you would read the "Project Complete" paragraph  Ah well, I try, I try.

That's sweet man. Pretty fast for a 1/8 RC CORR truck. Even though it's not Traxxas, but wouldn't be cool if they made something like your's?

NOOOOO!!! I just had my mind set in buying a Stampede, but look what you've done now! I might have to buy a slash now!!! bugga!

TheJANG
7.18.08, 7:57 pm
Why does this make you want to get a Slash?

Benzo
7.18.08, 7:59 pm
Because since I can't buy your's, I'll have to buy a Slash instead!

TheJANG
7.18.08, 8:08 pm
 Wait & see how the AE truck turns out first. Also, consider trying the best of both worlds. Get a Slash, *and* a set of Stampede wheels & tires, plus some sort of longer aftermarket monster truck body. Voilla, just like that, you've got it all!

thats great jang

what hv motor are you useing, after reading your post i decided to buy the conversion for my lightning

thanks for getting back so quickly

i know my 4cell hacker/mamba setup on my lightning lsp get extremely hot after 10min and im only getting about 15min of run time on 4000mah max amps packs

what type of run time are you getting?

a on road video would be great, make sure you have 100k in the center diff so we can see the power without it just unloading.

i though it looked way over sprung, i just figured the new setup was alot lighter than the nitro setup
