Click here to view the full version : New E-Revo vs. conversion
As stated in the title is there really that much of a difference between the new E-Revo and an electric conversion. I mean I know everyone has been saying electric conversion but now that I really start to think about it I really don't see much of any difference besides conversion ones have aluminum chassis and basically unlimited battery space vs. plastic chassis, vented battery slots that are expandable so people can't say that the conversions are better because you can have unlimited battery options. And another difference is Traxxas's "genuine" motor mount where one motor has to spin backwards but this would not really effect me because I would upgrade to the single motor mount for a brushless. And another thing that people say that the conversion is cheaper I'm not seeing that an EVX2 w/Titans is like 140 so that put a roller at 300 for both only difference is that the E-Revo is new unlike the conversion witsh would be used ($150 for roller and another $150 for Tekno conversion kit). But I know the RC-Monster mount only is cheaper but I just think that making the battery holder would be kinda hard unless I used Velcro but I'm afraid that the batteries would fly out so not gonna use that.
What I'm mainly getting at is which is better and why and if why it's better is actually worth it.
conversion..
cooler looking IMO
it really is cheaper especially if you have an e maxx to gut. you can sell the nitro stuff and the rest of the maxx... I spent almost nothing converting over..
right now I'm using 2 zipties and a rubber band to hold my batts in lol
the feeling of doing it yourself.... I'd probably never sell the eevo...
Edit: I forgot the most inportant one... having it built just the way you want it..
Well I don't have an E-Maxx to use. But here's a thought could I get a cheap nirto roller then put the new E-Revo chassis on it so then I'd have battery slots and then could just thown on a tranny but would it fit?
I'm sure you could make an older one fit. You'd have to do some hacking, and it wouldn't be as low-slung as the new one, but both your motors would be on the same side.
I'm still on the edge about what to do. I'm was going to go BL with my E-Maxx, but I wonder if I could do a BL E-REVO?
You know how Traxxas made a REVO crawler project 1 and 2? Do it in electric! There, I have put out the challenge.

Older one? What older one there has only been one E-Revo to come out so far. Unless were you talking about the old 3906 E-Maxx? But what I was getting at was if the new E-Revo chassis is able to be put on a 3.3 Revo.
Edit: E I don't really want to make looks a deciding factor though I'm looking at performance. IMO also I agree with you on the looks.
adidas22206 I'm not really into crawlers so yeah I'm not gonna make one but I think that some one has already done this.

Worth keeping this post alive I think, with the factory E-Revo seeming to be dominating the conversion crowd, it almost makes me wish I hadn't prayed so long for traxxas to step up for us electric guys. As far as Im concerned the converted trucks are just so much more fun.

I turned my E-Revo conversion to the actual electric model. The nitro conversions tend to be more top heavy with the batteries i think. I know thats why i converted it to the actual model.

i have 3 revos, two electirc and one nitro one is converted and i love it more than the erevo , because it is how i want it and doesnt have a weird chassis that has battery box issues.

*But it wasnt cheaper my converted revo has over 1200 in just chassis besides the electrontics hehe
Everyone is talking about the conversion and aluminum chassis.
I got a question for everyone doing the E-Revo conversions though. And it is ... "Is there a company out there thats makes the aluminum bulkhead halves?"
In my conversion, the only thing left that is plastic is the L & R sides of the bulkheads ... and I want to do away with them as quickly as possible.
yes, I can't for the life of me remember who makes it though... check out ebay...
