Just ordered a Hobby Wing SC8 and Tenshock V2 4400 kV for a new roller I'll be assembling.

What are everyone's thoughts on gearing and on 2S vs. 3S? 14/54 2S seems "safe" to me, but I'm intrigued by the idea of 3S.

No racing, just bashing. 50/50 off road (including snow, grass, dirt, and mud) and parking lot speed passes.

My sons have stock 4x4 ultimates with 2S LiPo. My truck has to be more powerful and faster. :-p

I have 52 and 54 spur gears, already, so I'll try both and post the results. 14 was the real confirmation I needed, so I went ahead and ordered a 14T 32P 0.8 5mm. I can't wait for all my parts to arrive!

That is quite the shopping list there. I do believe sir you have got the bug. For that 4400kv I would stick with 2s or risk overheating motor on 3s. Don't get me wrong it will run on 3s just not for very long. Post up some pics when you start the build.

Wow. That's similar to what I want to build except all I've ordered is the Ford Raptor True Scale body. ; ) Trying to decide if I want to just pick up the Rally LCG 4x4 Roller or simply get the Platinum with all the aluminum and GTR shocks already mounted. I'll definitely be running the SC401V2 SC8 ESC combo.

Are you planning to use the stock motor mount?

Yeah. $30 is steep for a piece of aluminum, if you ask me. I can add a cooling fan and heatsink for less.
