Hi everyone,

I am brand new to the RC truck world but have been lurking here for a month or two. We just got our kids a 2wd Slash VXL (brushless) and a Slash F-150 Raptor (brushed) for Christmas. Now, I see the VXL is listed as "discontinued" through Tower Hobbies. Is there an upgrade coming out to replace this truck? I am getting a little tired of my kids having all of the fun and think I may need to get one myself. The Slash seems like a good all-around bang for the buck so I am thinking I would just get another one. However, now that it is discontinued I am not sure which direction to go. Does anyone have any insight into what might be replacing the 2wd VXL?

Thanks,

John

Certain version of the Slash VXL may not be available but it is very much alive.

Traxxas Slash VXL Brushless 1/10 RTR 2WD Short-Course Truck w/TQi 2.4GHz, LiPo & Charger [TRA5807L] at amain.

and the non-LiPo brushed version Traxxas Slash 1/10 Scale RTR Electric 2WD Short-Course Truck (w/TQi 2.4GHz, Battery & Charger) [TRA5803]

and here's the brushed Raptor Traxxas "Ford F-150 SVT Raptor" Slash 1/10 RTR Truck (w/TQi 2.4GHz, Battery & Charger) [TRA5806]

They just discontinue the model number and will replace that number with the same number with an L on the end to designate it as the lipo model.

Traxxas discontinued all their models this year to bring out new models with lipos. Same truck just put a lipo battery in the truck

That's why you start a build with a roller off ebay and use better electronics/hop ups for the same price Traxxas asks.

So how much for an "upgrade" to a crappy lipo and charger??? 165 dollars according to traxxas.... This is absolutely ridiculous. 434 dollars for a 2wd slash????

30 dollars more and you can get the 4x4 nimh version on ebay.
