Hi all-

I want to put some shiny bling bling PL Desperado chrome wheels on my Slash 4x4 with Trencher 2.8" tires on 'em.

I just did some reading in the forums regarding this topic.

One question remains: which offset should I get?

The two pairs of
  • 2729-01 for Pede 4x4 or
  • 2730-01 ("electric rear") or
  • 2728-01 ("nitro front")
Do the nitro front wheels have any hexes?

Which do fit w/o scrubbing the A-arms (i.e. when turning in the front wheels)?

I have a baja bug body on it, so this should already fit...

Any suggestions?

Happy new year!
Matt

You need the 2729-01 models
slash 4x4 require 2wd fronts all around, even in the back. The nitro fronts don't have hexes just bearings.
I had some of those on my pede for a while they worked great

I currently geared 14/54 on 2S LiPo.

Shall I go with a lower pinion?

Some say they go with 11T - anyhow I am already below the recommended 19/54 gearing for 2S...

Thanks

You'll definitely have to gear down from 14/54 to run 2.8's. Traxxas gearing chart recommendations only apply to the small SC wheels/tires and 19/54 is speed run only gearing not general bashing gearing. Might have to go as low as 9/54 and add fans/heatsink's to the ESC/Motor if you're running a VXL system with 2.8's.

19/54 gearing is to make a few speed run passes, let it cool off for 10 minutes or so and do a few more passes, don't run 19/54 as a general bashing gearing, you'll fry something.

Mmh, yeah,

I already tried 19/54 on the stock SC tires, which was pretty undrivable slowly (lots of cogging - at least on my VXL3s). It gained about 6 mph (38 mph total) compared to 14/54.

The stock gearing on the Pede is 11/54. You think, I should really go down to a 9T pinion?

Cheers

I run 11/54 with 2s on my 2.8 trenchers and it seems to be a good balance between speed and torque and engine temps.

I ran my p2de 2.8 talons on my sl4sh with stock gearing for bashing and fried my esc. I'd suggest gearing down a bit.
