Switch to the 18 tooth then, but it will get hot.... A good compromise is the 14 tooth keep an eye on your temps though

Yeah, only go a couple teeth more, otherwise temps will be too high.

If you are not that experienced and do not have heat sinks or fans you should consider batteries instead of gears. More top speedmeans less acceleration which usually ends up in higher throttle usage which then leads to more heat which then leads to burnt up something! Hopefully you follow what I mean. What batteries you running?

i have a 2s lipo 45c i think. maybe more. its 5000MaH.
in my cousins 2wd slash i he is geared high. but the hobyshop owner reccomended it. its is wicked fast, but the motor has a good run time. i would like to use the same earing as him. just guessing i think his spur is a 90 t.

90t spur won't fit. 54 is the largest that fits in 4x4. I ran 20C 4000 and 25C 5400 on my stock setup and it was plenty fast. On the 25C 5400 It ran 25-33 minutes but also got hot enough to need a new rotor. Still get a fan and heating for the motor and a fan for the esc, $20 combined that can same you $85 (cost of vxl).
