I can't find a cockpit for the car I just bought. Is there a different cockpit that will fit maybe? http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=58323

Tamiya make a left hand and right hand cockpit, but they are pretty universal so pick which side of the road you drive on and get that one.
RCs are like potato chips you can't stop at just one.

That is correct. There is also a driver/navigator rally cockpit, but they do not sell it separately.

You can go pretty creative with the cockpits. Even though you can just paint most of it black, they didn't skimp on details.

EDIT: Oh yes, and this will help if you plan on going box art with the decals:

Ya, I really like the box art, but I'm scared because I've never done painting. I've always just bought RTRs lol. I'll probably end up doing, but I'm also not sure what paint colours the stripes are.

Stripes are decals, I'm pretty sure. Looks like it'll mostly be white paint. The grille needs a bit of black paint, and that's about it.

Cool, if that's the case, looks like I'm in luck :P. But that would explain the suggested colours at the bottom of the tamiya site.

If you want the pure box-art look be prepared to buy some paints that you probably will never use again :P

Ya paints are more expensive than they look. And ya I probably won't use them again, I already have to many cars than I need.

I had this one and the stripes are decals as mentioned. I recently sold it but in the third to last picture here you can see the decal sheet: http://www.ebay.com/itm/290831624393...84.m1561.l2649

The body in this one is just all white, but at tamiyafier mentioned the grill needs black (should you want it black). Also that left mirror is red. Since these are white plastic you don't need to buy expensive $7/can Tamiya TS paint. The $4 can of all-purpose paint from the hardware store will do. Mine even has cheap $1 matte and gloss black that are fine.

Out of curiosity, how are these cockpits supposed to mount?

Velcro. You cut holes in the cockpit where the body posts have to pass through.
