I am somewhat new to the RC world. My son and I are having a BLAST. We have a sportwerks raven st and a traxxas stampede, but now we think we would like a 4WD 1/10 buggy or truck. Witch one should we purchase? I would like it to use my stick batteries and I think we want to upgrade to brushless!

If it were me I would hold off a month or so and wait for the upcoming release of the new Slash 4x4. It comes brushless equipped and RTR with a 2.4 radio system

Well I bought a LOSI Strike but we dont like the feel of a short course truck so I am thinking that the traxxas will handle like that also. ( the losi is on ebay now it is only 2 weeks old)

The Slash 4x4 should be able to be tuned with a much stiffer suspension and still get traction thanks to the 4WD, so it will be able to actually handle quite very differently from the Slash 2WD-inspired, big body roll Strike. To use stick packs and get 4WD, I don't think you'll find a better for-fun platform than the Slash 4WD. You can put a buggy body on it if you want it to seem a lot different. The problem with the 4WD 1/10th scale space right now is that most of the vehicles are either racing machines (some requiring saddle packs) with low ground clearance and precision handling (and big prices) or entry-level bashers that won't handle a lot of power.

If you really want to try a pure buggy though, I would recommend the Tamiya Durga or Baldre (same car different body). It's a low-end version of their racing buggy and is fairly durable and accepts regular packs.

Go out with the Cyber 10B man! The Brama is much more entry level, and much less tunable

Why not go for a Brushless E-Revo?

The B44 is a vey good 4wd buggy but it is quite pricey and not very durable however it is very good for competition because it is lightning fast. It also it reqires saddle packs not stick packs.

If you would like some great reviews on most of the popular racing buggies, visit oople.com, reviews found here:

I'd personally go for a ZX-5 from Kyosho or the Cyber 10B. Or the DURANGO!
