Hey everybody, I've run into a problem with my balancing setup. I'm going to be running two separate 2S packs in series, in the truck. Obviously it makes more sense to charge both packs at the same time, this definitely requires balancing. For the two packs, and the cells in the packs. My balancer is a FP V- Balancer, up to 6S. The batteries have JST taps. What I want to do, is be able to plug in both of my 2S packs into the balancer, making it seem like a 4S pack. How should I wire this? What would be perfect is an adapter that goes from the balancer, and has two female JST taps, plug and play. But I can't find anything like this, so how can I wire this without using a million adapters? Thanks for any help =]

I have a regular 4S balancing adapter that works with my balancer, it's a TP/ FP 4S. I can get a JST- FP 4S adapter for 99 cents. So that leaves me with a 4S JST tap. All I need to find is a 4S male to 2 X 2S female splitter/ adapter. Hmm. The wiring will be like this

Balancer> Flightpower 4S> JST 4S> JST 2 X 2S.

Hmm I think this'll work.

I see you're running 30%. Is that because you think you're slow? 'Cause you're not. You could be running 15 if you felt like it.

Okay, now that is incredibly cool. But the thing is- in those pictures, it shows the ground wire connected to each lipo cell, and one positive wire. My balancer does it the other way around, one ground, multiple positives. This'll take some research and tests.

The colors don't matter and ultimately they are all wired the same.

I think my brain just grinded to a hault, I'm confused. My balancer uses one ground wire and four positive/ red wires. The Align taps are different, the one positive and multiple other wires, which are black. That site shows that you need to cut the positive balance wire off of the pack that's using the 3rd and 4th cell spots on the align tap. But my balancer is the other way around. Also this: http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=546467 has no cut wires! I have no idea how to wire this anymore, I'm trying to grasp the concept but I'm still confuzzled.

I'm not real familiar with the balancer itself , but they are all universal in that any balancer will do any packs (as long as the connections are correct)

Maybe text format will be good? Can we start with cell 1 being the main negative wire?

The main neg wire and the first black pin in the balance plug are the same.

cell 1 is pins 1 and 2
cell 2 is pins 2 and 3
cell 3 is pins 3 and 4
cell 4 is pins 4 and 5

cell 2 and 3 need thier + and - connected like in your diagram. Your diagram is correct on the packs main leads, but the balance connections need to be like the diagram I linked.

cell 4 (pin 5 is same as the main red lead)

Thanks, I think I understand now, I have some cheaper unused 2S lipo packs I can try my tests on as I make this adapter, I'm sure I can whip up something that works, thanks =]
