Let's cut straight to the chase. Mini-T's are the hottest thing in R/C this season, arguably the biggest little thing to happen in the hobby this year. A lot of people are getting them, and still more wish they could. Somebody's going to get their wish.
This is a multi-part contest in which....
...one lucky winner will receive a brand new Mini-T...
...shipped from my floor to their door.
So here's the deal. I've begun work on my Ultimate Mini-T project. Your job is to figure out what I'm going to do to it! The contest will proceed in stages, each stage relating to one portion of the project. Each member gets
one chance to properly guess the modification or part covered in the stage. If you give more than one guess, only the first will be counted. Points will be awarded for partially and fully correct guesses.
I'm going to be the judge, jury & executioner to keep things simple & straightforward, as I know the worst of human tendencies come out when free stuff is on the line
Everybody's encouraged to participate in every stage of the contest, as there may be many ties along the way and it's not over until it's over!
Hint: For a better chance at getting the right answer for a given stage, look for clues in other threads, not only here in the MiniOffRoaders forums, but in other parts of the
URC Network Forums also! Just don't
ask me for hints -- I won't play guessing games
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 1: Motor (complete)
Let's get this party started. What will I use? Brushed or brushless? What size? What configuration?
Answer:
Lehner Basic 5300 (540 bolt pattern)
Stage 2: Servo complete
We all know the stock servo got's ta go. So what will I replace it with? What size? What manufacturer? Model number even?

Which trick will I use to adapt an aftermarket servo to fit?
Answer:
Airtronics 94091 Super Micro, hand-trimmed spline (into hex shape), mounted with servo tape to clamp it into stock position under the stock cover/brace.
Stage 3: Suspension complete
Alright, you've already seen what I did to the rear, but what about the front? What shocks will I use in place of the stock pogo-sticks? I'll even spice this one up with a
hint: front suspension travel will *not* be reduced.
Answer:
Associated VCS Micro shocks w/ blue Factory Team bodies, shortened ball ends & custom, fitted lower aluminum eyelet.
Stage 4: Wheels & Tires complete
What rims and treads could be sufficiently bold & unique for the Ultimate Mini-T?
Answer:
Rear, Pro-Line 2.2" buggy rear Smash or Holeshot tires on
HPI chrome 5-spoke Super Nitro 2.2" wheels. Mounted with modified HPI
rear wheel adapters.
Front, Pro-Line 2.2" buggy front Smash or Blade tires on
HPI chrome 5-spoke buggy 2.2" universal wheels. Perfect fit with HPI
front wheel bearing adapters
Stage 5: Chassis complete
A new word ("Jangify") was created to describe the extreme lightening done to my Ultimate Rustler chassis. My Ultimate E-Maxx: Spyder project featured radical chassis modifications that paved the way for the transformation of a monster truck into a rally car. What sort of madness will I bring to the Mini-T? Lexan? Aluminum? Carbon fiber? A ladder chassis? Dual-deck? Flat-plate? All of the above? None of the above?
Answer:
Delrin ladder frame on single blue-hue carbon fiber deck. See here.
Stage 6: Body (complete)
A body is what tops everything off. It can fit a theme perfectly, or it can give a vehicle an unexpected personality twist. And so the final question is, what shell will the Ultimate Mini-T don? HINT: It will be an off-road vehicle body!
Answer:
Pro-Line Dodge Dakota R/T (for Micro RS4)
