Hello Everyone,

I got the first batch done, and they are ready for shipping.

If you have no idea what this is, the short version is "This is a huge improvement over stock steering"

For more details, please see www.swami-rc.com or post your questions here.

Thanks!

Gotta say, they look great!

You sized them for an HS 81 right?

Is what I remember you saying still the case - you don't tap the holes, the alu is soft enough that the screws tap in on their own and stay there? (what size screws?)

Does the $3 shipping include shipping to Canada?

I can't do any international orders unless you are willing to bribe me to make a personal trip to the Post Office, sorry!

To answer your question, yes, the aluminum threads surprisingly well. That is how *I* have chose to use the 7/64 holes. 3mm machine screws or self-tap (traxxas style) work well. The self-tap just go on a lot more quickly. If this method failed to work for some reason, you could always use a locknut.

As the mounts take up the shock mounting locations, you can see in the above picture where I relocated the shock mount ball. Look between the servomount mounting screws on the leftside.

I used an HS-85, and I would expect any mini-servo to fit in there fine. I bought a servosaver off of Ebay that worked great. Its described as a "GPM servosaver" but it is some cheap knockoff I think.

4-40 rods from the hardware store, RPM rodends, and some ballends I had laying around.

Swami,
Looks great, I just put in my order. I'm tired of screwing around with this stuff, I'd rather just buy them. I've gone through maybe 4 sets that haven't worked good yet. Thanks for giving us novice machinists a chance to modify our trucks.

Can't wait to see em on your truck JANG.

I managed to leave out the part about how versatile they are. I have mine setup to have the links go behind the servo saver, but I think there is a possibility of reversing the mounts to run things it with the links in front. Could make for some bumper trouble, but anyway. More options the better. I even considered putting some holes thorugh the body for more shock mount locations. I am not sure its really a suitable spot, but you guys can let me know if we should add any features like that.

International Orders:

I have a reason to go to the post office. So, if anyone want to make an international order before 10am PST tomorrow, it will be the standard $3.00

Those look a little to bulky to me.I would like to order a pair but it looks like from your site pics that you could not move the bottom shock mounts to the front bumper (for more artic.) if you did the servo mod with those "blocks" on there. Can you do it?
I Love God You Should Too!!!

So you are considering dis-regarding this, which is a bonafide, awesome upgrade to the truck, for the "bumper shock mount" mod?

That is not rational. The shock-mount on bumper is a terrible mod for starters. There is a ton of flex on the bumper, and the mount point is too far toward the center. If there had to be a choice between mods, there is no comparison.

Anyway, if you still want to do that, I think there is room anyway.

Do you want to describe to me what a "less-bulky" solution would look like?
