I just recently purchased a axial exo. But I can't decide on a motor and esc to get for the buggy. I'm looking between a castle creations sidewinder 3 with 4600kv motor or a tekin Sc4x 7.5T with an RX8 esc or if any suggestions that are better, I will be using 2s lips only. I will mainly be driving on dirt and grass. Any help appreciated.
Thanks

I had a Tekin Pro4 with RX8 combo and I liked it, however the rx8 broke after the first track session. I ran it Pro4 with MMP for awhile and the pro4 4600 is a perfect motor of the exo. I then changed the whole system to the sv3 4600kv combo and to be honest I was surprised at how well it did perform. I strapped a much more racing fan on the top of the sv3 and ran it for one track session and I was more than happy with the performance and will be running his set up a few more session at the track....also great price if you can find it.

How well does the drivetrain handle the sv3 4600kv system, because I was looking at a sv2 3800kv system and thought that it may be a little to much?

The 3800kv has a 5mm shaft which is more durable per say. You will get more torque and the 3800kv is an ideal powerful motor for a 4wd SCT. I've ran the 3800 in a 4wd and 2wd SCT/SCB and it performs very well. I do prefer the 4600kv for the extra speed. The one down side of the sv3 and 4600kv is that the motor shaft is 3mm...but so far my setup has worked perfectly and price was very good. I'd say it's pretty comparable to my Tekin pro4 4600kv I ran in it prior.

I'm looking at taking the Rattler motor and and ESC out of the Exo my wife drives and replacing it with a 3660 2700KV - 3300KV or 3665 3100KV with a hobbywing SC8 ESC. The Tacon 3660 3500 KV motor was brutal on my rattler's dog bones so I'm wanting to avoid grenading the Exo's drive line but I'd like to get her some more speed and torque. I figured I'd check to see if those motors might be too much for the exo to reliably handle or not. The rattler motor/ESC will go into my 5 year old's car now that he's got a handle on steering and throttle control.

Thanks
Jay

Mine on 3s with a 3200kv seens like a rock crawler speeder! Guess i like speed and this kind of speed for me is rock crawling! :P
My ESC is on the soft side of aceleration in every RC i own! For comparization to "nitro" combustion engine is still way to much punch!

IT's brand "new" to me... so i still have a long way to test this Exo Terra!

Looks good targeting I opted to go with a GoolRC 3660 3300KV motor for the Exo Terra. I figured for 16 bucks it was worth trying out and I was pleasantly surprised I pair it with a Hobbywing SC8 esc my wife was pretty happy with the way it drove. I bought another 3660 3300KV for my Tekno 410.3 and a 3665 3100KV to also try out.

Sounds pretty good I doubt it's that fast but it had decent acceleration and a respectable top end and the max temp while we had it out there was 140 after running full throttle drifting for a few mins.
