News brought to you by...

We have received photos of the all new AMB IT personal transponder that was being tested recently at the MACH indoor track in the Netherlands. Some drivers were given the new MyLaps PT to test out and so we ended up with pictures. The previous PT was very innovative and changed how we race, but it had been around for a long time and was due and upgrade, and so here it is. Weighing only 4 grams its almost half that of the original, while the size is now 16 x 9 x 6mm, making it considerably smaller too. It will be supplied with a quick change holder that enables the user to easily switch between a version that has now eyelets shown above, to one that has mounting eyelets so it can be screwed to a transponder mounting plate. It will be available in either black or red, has lower power consumption, works with less voltage and when it hits the market in the next few weeks it will be made from PTFE Teflon, which is fuel resistant. Note that the PT in the images is still a prototype.

Hopefully it will be less expensive then there last one, but this should lower the prices hopefully. $100 for one of those things is just to much money

Yeah, the transponders are way too expensive. If I even started to think about racing, it would have to be at a track with public transponders or none at all. These AMB transponders cost way too much, and if this one isn't less expensive, hopefully the other one will be due to the new product release.

What exactly does this do? I am very familiar with PIT's, but no PT's.

Thanks

This is just a personal transponder. Tracks use it to count lap times and number of laps a racer completes in racing and qualifing. It sends a signal to a main device that counts the times and laps for all the racers. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Nope, you are right
Builing 1/10 and 1/1 off road vehicles is a life long sport, requiring endless amounts of time, money and dedication.

Ya, they are expensive as they are the only one offer such system and sure they will offer the code for others to make the PT. The good thing is if the track you go to is online you can check your lap time real time at www.mylaps.com . So even during normal practice day you know how fast you or your buddies are doing and can notice the effect of the laptime with setup changes.
