DUH!!!! All I need to do is change the "steering wheel" (need to go read the proper parts terminology list when I have a minute) to a larger wheel on the controller. Voila! The increased diameter will give me more control with the longer travel distance. I have to go take the controller apart now. I'll update you later once I find an appropriate replacement for the control wheel.

The traxxas wheels can be twitchy (especially with low traction), but if you have a TQi i think you can adjust sensitivity with the multifunction dial...
