I may be dragging this thread back from the darkness of time but i'm a newbie as mentioned above and this has helped me now end

Thanks to those that contributed to this thread and convinced me that although the Slash is never going to be a competitive racer it is exactly what i am looking for !

Well... the Traxxas F-150 Raptor based on the Slash anyway...

Just a note on the G-Made shocks... i have found them available from JunFac for $31.00 a pair... is this a good price?
I found G-Made shocks at CKRC for less.

Ugh, forget about the Dynamite Tool Set. It's poo. Stripped screws and slipping galore. Keep your sanity and get Ed's Racing tips and a cheap adjustable clutch drill.

Thanks DrJVogel I think my dad has hex drivers though. I'm still thinking about changing the tool kit a lot of people at my track use those but, oh well.

Ed's Racing makes nut driver tips as well. They are all I will use. My Dynamite tool kit is collecting dust somewhere - I should probably just sell it for $10.00.

*has Gmade XD piggyback bypass shocks* --Loves them. got mine from CKRCCrawlers too.

Evil~ if your going to keep updating this thread's first post.....

my 2cents:
Anything that you've said "STRC" can be replaced by Vanquish, or ANZ.

STRC has also recently stated that they are going to be releasing a Hardened King Pin (sold as a Pair... not as part of the "Hinge Pin Kit" at this time.)

Tekno has come on very strong in the past year as well.... I would say that the M6 drive shafts are the over-all top recommened set of drive shafts fot the Slash.(also the new Traxxas XO-1 inspired set have just recently hit for the 4wd's... not sure if I've seen anyone try them on a 2wd yet.)

and as far as not being a "race worthy truck" the slash in box stock form; with the same driver on the same track with the same amount of practice time, I am sure the slash wouldn't win...

but for me... half the fun is the customizing, building tinkiering..... and I really do get a kick out of it when a guy who has a slash says: "What's that thing??"

-this coming from a guy that won out the season for 2wd open. season finishing order as best as I can recall:
1: Slash
2: SC10
3: XXX-SCT
4: Blitz ese
5: Slash
6:SC10
7: XXX-SCT
8: Slash

there were some others there on and off for the season... but no one in the top 6 raced fewer races than me.
My Tastes are simple:
I am easily satisfied with the best.

I started looking at my Dynamite 7mm hex after reading this, and the Dr. is right, that bugger is starting to round out on me. I have only had it for a few months too. It is poo. I plan on getting some of those Mr. Ed's, those look really nice.

"STRC has also recently stated that they are going to be releasing a Hardened King Pin..." Woohoo! I'll be getting three sets as soon as they are for sale. May I repeat myself, woohoo!

I've tried other tools. The Ed's Racing seem best to me. http://edsracingproductsstore.com/
