There are also the 2GHz DP(dual processor). a whopping 4.0GHz...YOWZA(wish that was my GPA,lol)

As are all amazing machines.

Mine works for right now. I don't know which one I like more though, Mac or Windows. I have owned both. I think I like the Mac better.

its pricy sure, but look at what you're getting.
I own both...mac and PC(actually my parent's bought the mac, i own PC)
My PC is my main hobby and the things aren't cheap
And once you do pay that much...you then own bragging rights for the worlds fastest desktop.

I'm just trying to decide weather to pick up the 1.6 now (with no PCI-X slot-why did apple not include that?) or wait till january when undoubtedly, new faster macs will appear.

my 400mhz iMacDV SE is getting a little long in the tooth.

The only thing I want is to get OS X running on a 3.0 Ghz P4...$2999 is a lot when you could build/buy a 3.0 GHz P4 PC for less than half that. I think the pirates over at Apple could make even more profits if they sold OS's that worked on a pc...but then you wouldn't have to buy proprietary hardware from Apple so they could lose there...oh well.

that exists, it's called Marklar. Just try and get it out of apple Hq though. BTW, it's not a rumour, you can find it mentioned on apples website.
