Ok i don't think the iOS will be a big deal, here is why. the fact that you need it to unlock it at the controler tells me that the setting is kept in a hidden menu on the transmitter, it makes the most sence to lock out max throttle to say 40 or 70% with a end point set in the Tx. otherwise they would need a receiver that has in it the castle link hardware and software to change a setting in the ESC it self, that's overly complicated. and since many who will buy this car will more then likely have a high end computer radio just switch it to that, problem solved. now i cant say with absolute certainty that's how they did it, but with what i know of the system it makes the most sence.
