Thanks for the heads up guys, I was planning on getting the Brushless Hobbies 120A in the first place but after talking to the guy at the LHS and having money to work with it seemed worth it.

Just going by what Tekin themselves recommend.

Running a 550 motor on a Tekin RS or RS Pro in a 4x4 SCT will void the warranty.

Tekin themselves suggest the RX8 for 4x4 SCT.

But hey it's your money, buy whatever you want.

My setup would be so illegal at your track...

The only thing illegal about your setup is your motor and battery...

I'm the kind of guy that likes to work the system when it comes to rules, finding little things here and there to get me an advantage, and keep it to myself.

I don't know if I mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but my gearing is 14/50 at this point. My motor still doesn't get very hot (though I will find out more in depth after Christmas and New Years).

I'm limiting my RPM parts to my bumpers, need to keep the flex in suspension components to an absolute minimum for good suspension characteristics. The last thing I need is another undampened spring

Would a 8.5 540 sensored motor work well in slash 4x4 for racing? Or is a 4 pole/550 really needed? Small indoor track.

Really depends. An 8.5 isn't legal for my track anyways, and that's a very tight track.

If the track is tight with a lot of corners requiring you to book out of corners, I'd say the 4 pole, but check with your track to be sure.

It's mod so it's legal for me.

I wouldn't do it. Stick to a 550 and 4 pole or a 540 4 pole. The Hobbywing combo comes highly recommended.
