Rising from the pile of parts left over from the decommissioning of Flip-a-Roo, the Something Old/Something New Pede build, and some digging in the parts bins, and a new beast begins to take shape. Ultra Slashipede.

Yeah, that's an SC8 shell. The MGT tires with +1/2" offset 23mm hex wheels, and an assortment of other goodness. From the disassembly of the other two trucks, it's going to be RPM from head to toe, save for the rear skidplate, which is a cast-off from my son's Grave Digger-- and the upcoming pics will let you know why.

I really wanted to do an extended wheelbase monster after all the fun I've been having with the 2.8" Trencher equipped Stocker Slash. It's the vehicle that's been getting the most wheeltime as of late, and it has almost nothing in the way of aftermarket on it. It's HCG, the suspension is well tuned, and it's just plain fun to drive. So I want to capture that, but in a more ridiculous, you-gotta-be-kidding-me fashion that I'm used to doing.

Credit where credit's due, there are a couple of guys over on the Traxxas forums that stretched the stock chassis on the Slash to fit an SC8 shell, and I probably never would have considered it without seeing how they went about it. Well, that and I have four SC8 shells. So the ability to outfit a project without spending another $50 on a shell was a big motivator as well.

But how does it all go together, you say.

Oh yeah. Stock chassis and skidplate, mated to an STRC LCG kit, with a pair of custom upper plates to attach the shock tower to the chassis. It's solid as a rock. The electronics will be almost entirely pulled from the Pede, including the MMP, TQi, and Airtronics 94770. It will get the oft-homeless Tacon 4074 2000kv, for a mix of 2S and 3S tomfoolery, depending on how she moves with the big-ol' half pound tire combos.

So that's all for day one of the build. I think it's looking promising so far.

Early notes.
--The 4x4 bellcrank is not up to the task of MGT tires on 1.5" extenders. It's like the steering is made out of noodles.
--Needs a change in springs, desperately.
--The big SC8 shell, on Monster Jam mounts, is hilarious. In the air, it flaps around like it's made of cellophane.
--Even out on the expanse of the Proving Grounds, it looks huge.
--it's so fun to drive, I just smile the entire time I'm holding the transmitter..

I love the stance of that truck.

What motor & gearing are you using to push that size truck & tire?

Edit to add: Nevermind answering the question. I missed the info in one of your posts.
