What type of battery does it come with? Traxxas is phasing out the NiMh version and jacking the price up 80ish bucks. If thats the LiPo version thats a good price.

ETA: If it's the NiMh version I would try to get out the door for $400

Thats including the LiPo but online I saw somewhere else that was selling them for about $470 including a 5000 mAh 2s battery. Is it worth the extra $20?

I prefer cash and carry but you may want to factor tax into the cost.

AMAZON.... sign up for 30 day PRIME membership FREE then get it next day air for $3.99 TAX FREE!!!! The 2S battery is only worth a dump if you are gonna race. Buy a $40 LIPO Charger, mine is a PRIMAL from LHS and a 20C 4000 3S Lipo. Then a $10 Fan for ESC and $10 Fan/heatsink for the motor. Sway Bar set if you got a few extra clams as well $15(??). Run the stock battery a few then the 3s and that will give you a great warm up then 3s fun for 45 minutes. Charge and repeat or go snag a 25C 5400 lipo and get 30 min runs off that battery (beware of temps on those 3s). Less than $500 and you can have a ton of fun but look out for the money pit of mods.....LOL WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE!!!!

Alright last question for a while, will I really need the fan and heat sink if I am running 2s? Thats what I was planning on running for a while.

You shouldn't NEED one, but they're nice to have. If they do what they're supposed to, you should be able to gear up and get some more speed while keeping your electronics cooler. I had some on my Slash 4x4 before I sold it, but I don't use any on either of my 2wd Slashes currently.
