Get a screw extractor and the drill bit recommended in the instructions.

They are loud and just transfer the problems down the driveline. They are really cheap and easy to replace.

I agree with gnrkenny. I read somewhere that the reason the spur is plastic is so it absorbs some of the shock in the driveline. If you get metal you take that protection away and the shock will be transferred to the tranny.
It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.

If you have a torx wrench set (star lookin ones) ive had luck extracting stripped set screws before, just find the one that goes in the farthest and fits the snuggest and THEN start trying to loosen it. dont start spinning things in there until you find something that fits at least somewhat snugly, or you'll just make it worse. Or if theres a decent amount of said stripped screw sticking out of the gear, then use a dremel and a cutting wheel to create a slot in it so you can use a flat head screw driver to loosen it. if you're not handy with a dremel then have someone who is do it for you though. dremel+tight spaces+inexperience=bad.
+1 on using a torx wrench, works for me every time.

Have you tried heating the screw? Put a soldering iron on the grub screw for a few seconds and then try removal. Be careful not to burn yourself.

Go to the local hobby store buy a pinion and spur for a slash 4x4 same price you won't even need the gear cover the teeth are so big they can handle it. Running 3s power haven't stripped one yet.

Id get the 12 and 15 tooth pinions and 54 and 56 spur. Speed or torque.
