Hi everyone. I'm new to the RC world. Just bought a used 1/16 Traxxas Slash 4wd. Its bone stock. I want something that I can take out and have fun with in the yard with my boys. What should I upgrade first?

Buy lipo batteries and a good balance charger,then just upgrade as you break stuff,RPM make good stuff.

Watch your motor temps if running in grass it seems to make get hotter quicker.

What lipo battery would you recommend? It has a brushed motor, should I upgrade to a brushless?

When I made the jump to lipo I went SPC. Could not be happier.

I went for gensace and am happy but never tried anything else.use a turnigy balance charger and balance charge everytime.can post the links of my setup if you want?

Hey i don't think you can run lipos in that car,my step bro have the 1/16 brushed e revo and you can run them it will fry the electronics.I would get the parrallel connector so you can run two batteries at the same time for just longer run time.There is also the series connector so you can run 2 batteries an get a little longer run time but more speed.The only problem i have come across with the series for those motors,is that the brushes in the motor start to fall out witch means you get allot less life out of the motor(even know i believe they are only about $35.00).If you don't know what the parallel connector looks like from the series,you should Google images them so you know what you buying.They are about 6 or 7 $ each plus the extra battery that's around $ 25.00 so that's a pretty good cheap upgrade for either more speed or longer run time.Also well you aren't a kid like me with a tighter budget i wouldn't buy any upgrades.Just wait till it breaks so you dot waste you money on stuff.What happened to me was i got a very expensive 1/10 e revo brushless that i was saving for,for a while.Then i got some extra money and went to my local hobbies store and bought $150 in upgrades,that day i came home put them on and broke the chassis clean in half.I had no money to fix it for a while.But if you do break stuff i would definitely go with RPM they make very strong affordable. parts.

You can run lipos in that car and i recomend you do! These nimh packs are useless,go lipo its je only way.

you do know that it is BRUSHED correct? because with the brushed mini e revo my local hobbie stores said it will fry the electronics.

Ok sorry,thought it was brushless,stay away from lipo or get rid of that brushed motor,i wouldgo for the latter.
