Before there were "brushless motors" for our hobby we all used brushed motors. A thirteen turn mod motor was a very good ballance of speed without sucking 2000mah NiCads dry too quickly. I used them in my 1/10th scale stadium truck and 2wd buggies.

Many of todays RTR trucks/cars come with an ESC that can run a 15 turn motor. This motor is too hot for them. Your speed control will need to be able to handle a 13 turn or lower motor to run this motor safely. Most hobby shops still carry brushed ESCs that can run motors down to 12 turns that are very reasonable (under $50).

Quick 5s Google Search and results came up.. the consensus is to avoid them.. you get what you pay for in this case.

I have that motor and have ran it in a circuit and an arrma granite. I had to put the arrma esc into the circuit as the esc won't handle below 15t. Anyhow, its pretty quick and much better than the stock 20T. If you're looking for a new motor with a bit more speed I'd also check out the 15T firebolt from HPI.
