Below is what was seen in the "take out to the trash" pile this evening. They're all empty

Those things are a curse, Air Hogs and RC is a joke I swear. Talk about some hokey pokey handling and barely able to hold themselves up. Worst 30$ Ive ever spent.

Hey solo, want to sell yours? I love these little planes, and my trash had 2 boxes, should have a few more in the near future.

PM me solo if you want to sell it.

I will agree with Solo that there are duds out there, but most of them fly amazingly well for $30, heck a lot of them fly amazingly well for a lot more money. I currently own 3 and there are 2 others in my family. It has been really windy here lately though, even at night. Still they are awsome planes.
So, what plans do you have for your Aero Aces?

There's actually also one that I no longer have the box for. I think 3 out of 5 have flown ok out of the box, only one of them perfectly without adjustment. The other two required a little bit of motor alignment (just push them in their sticky gum bed) and steering trim, and that was it.

I took one out to the local schoolyard during a steady breeze, probably 2-3mph with gusts around 5mph, and with my lower wings trimmed just inside where the struts used to be, I was able to control it! It was quite an exciting fight/flight! A lot of time was spent either full throttle to turn into the wind, or zero throttle to come back down from the ridiculous altitude it'd reach in zero time flat. Then, at Rimmy's suggestion, I took the lower wings off completely. In this configuration, it flew like a regular plane, versus the powered hang glider style it normally emulates. Ridiculously fast. I'd estimate it was doing over 10mph against the wind, and 20 running with it. A bit too fast for a non-acrobatic plane with a ~8" wingspan, if ya ask me. Oh, and I'm running with my battery moved forward and down. Landing/takeoff gear too (yes, it takes off quite nicely on its own!).

So, my plans are to make one into a really capable outdoor plane, heavy, minimal vertical surfaces, hopefully about the speed that it is with half-trimmed lower wings, but more maneuverability. Then I'm also going to make the slowest possible, most maneuverable possible indoor flyer, something that can be controllable in my small living room.

I've also tried removing the fuselage altogether -- saves only about 1/4th of the weight. Basically I was left with a powered wing with a tail boom attached to the bottom. It flew beautifully in a straight line, but my CG wasn't far enough below the thrust axis & center of drag and turn recovery was a problem. Anyway, much in the future with these things!

PS: Please, nobody tell me to go look on RCGroups or RCU or some other big plane site. I want to see what I can come up with on my own before being polluted with the pros' ideas

Can't wait to see these things when they're finished. I've been thinking about building a slow flying one that I can fly in our house. I think it'd be pretty cool and I already have a few ideas as to how I will go about it.

Two out of Three of mine have flown fairly well out of the box. My first one (which is the only one that currently flies) flies in a large circle with no input, but I can deal with that. The other one flew like PERFECTLY. It was amazing. That all ended one day when I was outside flying with our jealous black lab. I wouldn't throw her tennis ball so she decided to grab my plane. It never worked so great after that. I have since taken the electronics out of it (which still work) and plan to put it in a new donor plane.

The third one I'm still trying to figure out a way to fix it. It flies in a nice 8' circle with no steering input. But hey, I got the last two for $20 at a TRU going out of business .

Are the motors aligned? "Steering" trimmed fully? Tail boom straight?

Hey, these things look a lot better than the little "Rookie" planes that we sell at Hobby People, might actually be worth the $30 to screw around with.
These are not my pants. FIF for life!

Wait, what?

They seem to be. I think one of the motors is spinning faster than the other. We are going to test the load or something on the motors and hopefully fix it that way. The trim didn't quite do it either, just not enough. Everything else seems to be straight and not bent or deformed. I'll have to test that out soon.

Well, if all else fails, move one motor farther from the centerline. If it turns left, move the left motor out. If it turns right, move the right motor out. That'll fix it for sure.
